It's that time of the year again that sour cherries is abundant in our garden. Although some of our fruit bearing fruits this year did not have much fruits because of the bad winter climate but our sour cherries are bountiful. Mom made a kompot or compote. Its a fruit cooked with some form of sugar (such as granulated or honey) which produces a syrupy fruit mixture. Fruit compote has been around for centuries. It’s easy and cheap to make using widely available ingredients and it’s a simple way of turning summer bounty into something delicious. This recipe is so easy to do just boil your fruit in a jar filled with sugar water for around 15 minutes and that's it. It can last for a while in the pantry. This dessert originated from medieval Europe, made of whole or pieces of fruit in sugar syrup. Mom has even kompot from last year.
