Thank you so much for sharing this. There is such a beauty and grace in your routines. I lived watching the kitsuke, it makes me want to try even harder to make my own simple one even better.
Wow, what a lot of work is required and skill needed to complete the outfit. 😊

What is Kikunami's hairstyle? It's so pretty!

Looks like a type of shimada hairstyle. I'm not sure which, but I know she wore this hairstyle for her misedashi, I know Nara adheres to different customs

Thank you for sharing such secrets. But I have a question that has tormented me for a long time. Why do you have different hairstyles?

The level of Maiko and the season determines the style.

The season and which year of being a maiko, determines one's hairstyle :)

They change hairstyle according to rank and season some geisha districts have special hairstyles only unique to them such as Pontocho and Kamishichiken. A lower rank maiko 1-2 years or under 18 will wear a hairstyle called wareshinobu until her 18th birthday (the one on the left is wearing wareshinobu). Upon reaching 18 she will go through mizuage (not that kind) and have her hair changed to Ofuku (the maiko in the middle is wearing ofuku). Afterwards depending on her district, & occasion, her topknot will take different forms for a time. The one on the right is wearing a type of shimada hairstyle. This is Nara, so they have a slightly different adherence in terms of customs.

Which hanamachi is this? I haven't ever seen maikos helping other maikos dress. But I am still learning. 🙂👘⛩
