You may not like ICP, but you've gotta give them credit where it's due; they know their audience really well, they gave Nardwuar the time of day and didn't act serious and standoffish (like Slipknot and some other artists), and they seem like a couple of good sports about their music, lifestyle, and fanbase.

Right, they don't harm anyone and they created their own empire which they completely own. Gotta respect them for that at least, they fucking own their music and every bit of it. I understand these guys not being most people's cup of tea, but the almost universal disdain for them and their fans by mainstream media is kinda ridiculous. As far as big successful groups go these guys' music is forced down your throat the LEAST. You have to seek their music out to hear it. I think in some ways it's classism. Upper/Middle class whites denigrating lower class whites for their taste. They wouldn't dare disparage a black rap fan-base to the same degree for fear of being labeled racist, but the white "juggalo" fan-base is a safe target they can take out all their disdain for lower-class culture on.

Matthew Yniguez There's no shortage of rappers of questionable talent with stupid, violent, ignorant lyrics. They are not nearly as scorned by the critics. There have also been countless rock bands over the years who wear costumes and makeup as part of their act.

I agree with you. Until Miracles, I really didn't know much about ICP, but man was it easy to bash them and make fun of them. Really though, a complete trust and faith in science to capture the human experience falls short, and while I may not agree that scientists are always motherfuckers lyin', and gettin' me pissed, they do touch on some pretty real points. It took some humility to recognize that. I think it's great seeing ICP with Nardwuar, and I hope this helps other people be more understanding of them.
