We're excited to be chatting with Lisa Pregent, Livestock Manager at George Washington’s Mount Vernon (www.mountverno...) about their new breeding flock of heritage turkeys.
Lisa runs a nationally recognized breeding program for rare, heritage breeds and was featured in Washingtonian Magazine for her efforts in the preservation of these breeds. Lisa and her team educate Mount Vernon’s visitors about the important role livestock played in the day to day operations of our first president’s estate.
Mount Vernon is home to one of the largest, registered flocks of Hog Island sheep. In addition to the sheep, Lisa and the livestock staff raise Milking Devon cattle, Ossabaw Island hogs, and now Narragansett turkeys.
Thank you to Heritage Foods USA for sponsoring Turkey Chats heritagefoods....
