I feel that he is some sort of eldritch horror, like an old god or something of the like that transcends the fabric of reality. It's touch upon the material plane is very distant and weak, hence the form it takes, but it's not a real physical form. Think of it like this, we are fish in a pond, someone sticks the tip of their finger in the pond, we can only see the tip of this finger that has breached the surface and nothing more. We bite the finger (kill the goose) and the finger recedes for a moment but eventually comes back and we are never really able to harm it.

The favorite funny NPC (of my players) in my campain was a giant spider my players met in the underdark. It was called Nigel, was sentient, spoke with a british accent and wore a top hat. It was also obsessed with finding 8 matching boots. It was very polite and refused to eat the flesh of humanoid. The wizard nearly went insane trying to demistify that existence while the bard tried to seduce it. It was married to his disapointment. when they finaly left the place they kept saying they want to build a village and invite him to live with them.

@@trilechedelarosa4898 So a while ago I got my hands on a starter set for D&D, a DM’s Guide and a Monster Manual. The starter set included the module to the lost mines of Phandelver. As soon as I got it, I started reading and after a few weeks I felt ready to dm for my parents. My parents got about three chapters farther (in a single evening) then I would have imagined, it was very nice hearing them say, they enjoyed it. Then this Friday I went to my grandparents to spend the weekend there. After some technical difficulties, they chose two of the starter characters for mines of Phandelver, two fighters, now called Hannibal and Vladimir. The lost mines of Phandelver may have been a bit troubling for them, so I decided to search through the notes for my homebrewcampaign I’ve been waiting to run. This time, we chose that they would make their own characters, me helping them through every step. Now I’d like to introduce to you: Signi, the chaotic neutral elf rogue of my grandmother and Jonathanus, the lawful good kobold fighter of my grandfather. On the second evening, we sat once again around the biggest table in the house (my place was absolutely cramped once again), they were able to overlook every plot hook I threw at them. A man talking about how he will pay them both 50 Goldpieces, if they protect him from some assassins? How about we meet tomorrow. Rumors that the lake south of them glows red some nights? Wow, nice idea, DM! A man, whose family disappeared? Man, this sucks! It was still a lot of fun, and I will wait patiently until they notice, that one of the traders sells only items with... interesting magic effects (like the magic horn, that makes the sound of a duck, or the tobacco pipe, which produces bubbles instead of smoke). And who knows maybe I’ll have another story to tell this evening

I'm very certain I've heard this story before. It was on a post about fun DnD ideas and this goose was one of them, albeit slightly different. The post stated that this goose: · Was physically identical to a regular goose. · Was able to move to any location without any possibility of being able to contain it. · Was impossible to decipher if it was the same goose as the previous one. · Was undetectable by any magic spells or by any Gods.

We had a goblin named...Gob. We ended up befriending him and making him head of a Goblin spy network that was able to scout their land and give us information about people who travelled through it. Interestingly enough, in a later campaign with a completely new set of characters, we encountered Gob and his spy network again... only this time he was our enemy and tried to kill us.

Heres a spicy story for ya So me and a couple of friends where running a homebrew dnd session, nothing too far from the rules but a couple of added spells, rules, the whole shebang. This group consisted of a dwarven defender, a human fighter, a half elf warlock and a raging alcoholic of an orc beserker. We where all in what was basically the headquarters of the world wide adventuring union, which is basically a giant organization that gives out adventurer ranks, quest and rewards across the world. Now an important note our group was only an above average b+ group, but nothing special, but while at the headquarters we where surrounded by S+ adventurers that could slay a dragon by themselves. So after a particularly gruesome dungeon our group wanted to relax a bit and count our coin. But out of the blue the drunken orc player asks," do I see anyone that looks tough?" Now to clarify we've been playing for a good 2 hours know and the player himself had one drink too many( though he really dosent drink alot irl). So the DM asks to roll perception and he says,"while everyone around looks strong in their own way you see a particularly large individual cloaked in a dragon skin cloak reading a book." Now something to know about our DM is he isnt afraid to put us in a dangerous situation if the players are acting dumb and ow boy we where about to get into some real deep shit. The orc player then says," I walk over and Pour my ale on him!", so with a worried look our DM asked for everyone to role perception and some how nobody rolled high enough to see a six foot seven orc bumble his way toward an even more imposing individual. So as he aproaches the individual dosent even look up from his book and then..... Splah! All over him and his book! The individual then stood up, and let me tell you it was a sight to behold. He then threw off his cloak which revealed an 8 foot five crimson red warforge that was covered in adamantium coated armor, with so many anti magic runes and enchantments you'd mistake them for tiny scratch marks, pull out a glave as tall as himself that then ignited with dragons tongue( Basically flame weapon) and just stared at him. The orc then backed away very slowly but a soon as he tried to sprint away, the warforge grabbed the orc by the the collar looked him strait in the eyes and said, you just ruined my favorite book that I had gotten from my creator Just before he died." And without another word threw the orc to the ground and chopped off his arm. No initiative, no warning just strait off. Know to say everyone was shocked would be an understament because before this drunken bastard had managed to fight off a death knight on his on for a while that rest of us where recovering form a devastating aoe attack. Then without another word our human warlock says, " I throw a pice of platnium at him and grab the orc". This worked but we still too this day still are avoided by the vast majority of people because that wasnt any normal warforge. That was the S+ ranked number w in the whole place named Warden, and he had managed to hold the advance of a Tarrasque all by him self at one point and lived to tell the tale and to say we got out lucky would be and understament. Hoped yall like this story and have a great day👍

I had a NPC amed Grandma Luf Wafful. She was this crotchety old crone of a woman that lived in the local large city slum ward staying at the local inn. One of my players decided to get absolutely three sheets to the wind wasted and wanted some 'feminine accompaniment' for the evening. Yes, it happened, no he didn't realize he was basically getting Shallow Hal'd by himself. He saw the old woman as a beautiful woman in her early 20's and quite lovely sounding and had no reservations. He had his night and the party left town the next day heading out east to follow another players backstory hook. After about 2 in game weeks they arrive in a mining town when I ask the lucky fellow to make a perception check, he rolls well and sees Granny Luf Wafful inside the town already, looking for someone. The game fell apart soon after due to a number of things happening IRL but they never learned that she was a cursed member of the Summer Fey Court as a retainer to the Summer Queen. The player played a Ranger that had amnesia and told me to go nuts with his background; so he was also cursed into a human vesal but could see through curses and veils.

My first group's favorite NPC was a little boy we called "Kid" or "The Kid". He was an orphan who was apprenticed to our pirate, Cpt. Elmo of the QRSTUV (the ship was a rowing boat). No matter what happened, the kid somehow always flipped the "ship" over. Sailing at night? Flip. Learning to tie sailors' knots? Flip. The party tried to sell him to three hags who were killing local children and making them into pies, but they rescued him (by accident, I think). Eventually, the kid became Cpt. Elmo's replacement character (Elmo choked on a fish), and he went on to blow up a duchess's bathroom after eating about three gallons of honey flavored mayonnaise given to him by our kobald rogue (?) (the kobald had a never-ending jar of mayo that he coated himself in to help prevent grappling). The kobald was also a two or three feet tall Geico gecko.

I had a goose like this in my game, he would steal from the party and sometimes reward them. He gave the Bard a golden harp with magic runes. The found out that if they played the harp it would cast an mass suggestion charming everyone but bard who failed a dc 10 plus the bards charisma mod. That included party members. Although after each use the string would cut open a finger of the bard and the blood would soak the string the snap. To show it had limited uses. After the last use the runes glowed red like blood and a curse was out on the bard. They had lost their voice and it was replaced... with a honk.

This reminds me of a character a dm made it wasn't necessarily dnd, honestly i have no clue what it was but there is a certain character I will never forget. There was a seagull and everytime we rolled a low number the seagull would appear and it would be the case of our failure. Throw a spear but roll a 1? The seagull grabs it and flys away with it. I remember that we were trying to find something of use on the beach since we were shipped wrecked. I had rolled low and ended finding a folder of... Extremely lewd seagull pictures. One of our party members try searching again.... more folders, we continue, more folders eventually our dm explains the entire beach is made of these folders. Somehow we came up with trying to bribe the seagull with the folders. I try to sell the seagull the nudes when it returned to harass us. The seagull took the folder signed it and gave it back. The nudes were by that seagull. Our next guess guess was to sell the nudes to a harpie that lived on the island. Honestly can't remember too much since it was from so long ago. Plus the campaign just stopped. Like the dm just stopped scheduling sessions.

Honk honk is the DM, an immortal being that bends all of reality to his will, and always focused on a party. As his experience grew so did his powers and willingness to warp the world around him.

The thing with the goose and the god may be an SCP reference (or just a good idea thought of convergeantly). It's similar to when scp 343 was pitted against 682. Either version gives me chills

That reminds me of NPC I created on a fly long time ago. A sentient sword named Terrarion. The chatiest and most annoying sword in existence. If you watched soul eater anime, its excalibur if he became a righteous paladin. It tells the story of how he went through a dragon. By natural way. Eventually party gave it to brass dragon. The legend tells that they talk till this day...

Honk Honk is based on the horrible goose as statted by Prokopetz, it seems. I once came up with a d6 list of generic goals with some variables to be decided by the DM to use for such a mischievous goose that could be summoned by a wild surge. The idea would be that the goose sticks around until killed or it completes its goal, then it disappears from existence once no one is observing it. Here is that list of goals. 1. He wants to get (character) to use (item). Example: get the fighter to use his backup weapon 2. He wants to catch someone in a trap, whether it be his own or another's. Example: lock the rogue inside the treasure room 3. He wants to place (item) in (location). Example: rake in the lake 4. He wants to imitate a mundane activity done by humanoid races. Example: play drums by gathering the bard's drum, a pot, a pan, a shield, and a stick/wand 5. He wants to cause someone to fall prone. Example: make the goblin slip on the grease spell 6. He wants to help the summoner with the next puzzle. Unfortunately, I have yet to see a wild surge result summon it, though I look forward to a moment where goal 6 comes up and the players keep misinterpreting the goose's intentions.

I have a similiar character in my campaign. An elven female in a pitch black cloak shes speaks no words the party can understand but to other people she seems to speak properly . shes been in 3 campaigns ive run so far but she has yet to be anything more than a random encounter. Oh but i have plans and the party still has no clue other than she seems to follow the players in game but not their characters

Oh God, another goose story I have a good one to tell So my DM put together a Kingdom Hearts D&D a while back, and we've been playing this campaign for the past year and a half. We have a few characters that have come and gone. We started off with a paladin that was part heartless, a saiyan (yes, she included those), a weird technology based ranger, and a draconic sorcerer with a penchant for fire magic from another world (my character). The only thing is that in universe, cursing isn't allowed. So, whenever we swear, a duck can be heard quacking. Thanks to my characters antics as a chaotic stupid, ducks don't like him. However, as a censoring animal, he has the goose from Untitled Goose Game. Because it loves his chaos. I downloaded a soundboard for that sound effect alone, just to make it funnier.

As a dark figure resembling a billed avian humanoid lurked in the distance, the party felt a sense of unease, and a loud honk blasted there way, coming from the figure. Everything around them had been destroyed except the ground and the party. The creature them seemed to waddle toward them, and as it got closer they saw it had flippers for feet, like… a goose….

“You see a goose. What do you do?” “I inspect it” “Roll perception.” “14 plus 2, so 16” “It’s a normal goose as far as you are aware. However, it honks at you guys.” Does the sound of rolling a dice (d8, but they don’t know that) 13 times. “Alright, everyone make a constitution save. Everyone who fails takes 60 thunder damage and everyone who fails takes 30. You hear a loud boom echo throughout the land, everyone within 300 feet at least.” The person who normally plays the wizard, thinking ‘he rolled the dice 13 times, and it’s thunder damage. Was that- thunderwave? What level was that... 13 - 2 + 1... 12-‘ then speaking “Did the Goose just cast a 12th level thunderwave?” The DM: Smiles, “Maybe.”
