Let me add my 2 cents-ok. The M3'S AND THE M2'S ARE THE BEST LOOKING MU'S IN THE COUNTRY!!! THEY ALWAYS WERE!!! HELLO!!! From what i was told the Metropolitans won an award for their design, when they first came out in mint condition in the late 1960's!!! And dont forget the bells and whistles that came with them, that added all the more flavour to them.They even had door closing chimes!!! WOW!!! THEY'RE just the best out there , as long as the ace mechanics keep them up!!! THEY'RE EYE PLEASERS!!!! Earl of El Barrio,NYC,NY. 1:16 AM 8/16/23

The fatal mishap at Herricks Road involved the daughter of a County legislator and her friends trying to beat the train at a crossing. As I recall, the gates were down, lights flashing, and the train had already sounded the horn once, meaning only about ten seconds remained before the train hit the crossing. The driver (it might have been the daughter herself; I forget) went around the gates anyway. The train was running express, so 70-80 mph, and destroyed the van and everyone in it. That Nassau legislator then rammed through extra money in the budget to build the underpass.

Thanks for the video. I grew up in Brentwood, about 2 miles north of the Brentwood Rd crossing off of Washington Ave. I left LI in 1979, came back for a visit in '87, haven't been back since. Brentwood, especially, has changed a lot, I remember Brentwood station being on the other side of the crossing. I have a picture from an LI calendar showing a steam engine crossing Brentwood Rd., one track and no crossing gates, no idea what the year was.😃

This was great, Thank You!! Your narration well explains what we’re seeing. Being a Subway fan from Bergen County, I never really was interested in NYC Commuter rail. The LIRR (and the rest) is new territory for me. Long Island too; going there is a rarity, and a treat - comparing how things look to what I’m accustomed to.

Awesome! Rode Babylon Branch for too many years and so remember that 'half seat'/jump seat - - the conductor would be pissed that I'd take, (and I'm tall too) for that best-view-ever (except the window was always dirty). PS So glad I moved to North Jersey 10 years ago 🤣🤣🤣

@ Retired Railfan Horn Guy: Great video, as always! Do you know what the occasional bell rings are about? Does the bell ring every so often to test the alertness of the engineer who, when he hears the bell, has 15 seconds to press a button to signal he/she is alert and in full command of their train - or, failing a response, the train automatically comes to a full stop?
@3985uprr Жыл бұрын
