So, if I remember, I think there was a change in a much older patch where grenades or explosives damage dealt full damage if they exploded behind cover. In the past, damage was mitigated depending on the direction from where the grenade was thrown from. Now, it's just from the direction of the explosion instead of where it was thrown. Unfortunate for those pioneers that died from that rifle grenade.
