You definitely shouldn't continually cruise on a narrowboat without a good general knowledge of mechanics, plumbing and electrical or you'll need the very top cover from the canal rescue service and definitely expect to have to call them 😂. Slightly above the basics to be striping, servicing, replacing the gearbox but you're a man of many talents(as I like to think I am). The amount of times I've done a job to only find that something else needed doing that would have been way easier to do whilst I was doing the original job 😤🤦😂. Thanks

Hi will. yet another interesting and informative video from you..I personally would advise people who own a narrow boat to download and save your last two videos.for future reference.. I'm so glad to see that you have family members around you.. friends come and go. But family is always something to cherish.. I am the last of generations of narrow boaters.and lived as a sole boater for more years than I care to remember. I can honestly say that people have no idea about how to do a basic service on their own boats.will i once come across a... p r m. . gearbox that had been filled with a t f . Fluid.??? My advice to people has always been when you do a major service change the engine and gearbox mounts along with any belts.. There is nothing worse than braking down in the middle of nowhere...I can't tell you how many times I have been called out to a boat because the owner thought that his engine had developed a loud knock only to find that the mounts had failed.. prevention is always cheaper than the reaper bill .. Anyway will.. keep smiling and make sure you are safe and well mate.. filthy thumbs up 👍 👍 👍.
@NarrowboatWillАй бұрын
Hello Wayne. My old engine mount that failed did sound like the big ends were knocking when I revved it. Thank God it was only my mounts that went. 🙏 My prm takes atf Wayne. The 150 take 10/40 Anyway, buddy, have a great day, and thanks for watching..

@@NarrowboatWill there you go will I have learnt something new about p r m gearbox oils from you . Today. To be honest I have never come across red automatic transmission fluid in a p r m gearbox until I serviced the one I mentioned . I have always used 15 w 40 mineral oil when serving a p r m gearbox... I would like to give you the heads up about the Trent and Mersey canal..I have been informed that a number of boats have been damaged over the past few days... Many have had Thier doors forced open..I don't know how reliable this information is but it seems that a lot of people are saying the same thing.. Anyway . Great work, I was worried the input shaft splines of the gearbox wouldn't fit your drive plate. Phew! wonder what is upgraded inside the gearbox? Perhaps larger bearings? as you say the case is slightly bigger. Those Poor engine mounts, I'm sure you replaced those before?
