That’s so lovely of you to say Simon! I have to say I really enjoyed editing this one. Such wonderful memories of this trip, with so much anticipation, excitement and nerves, all rolled into one! There was some banter between Pete and Rich that may not have made the editing cut 😂😂

It was so nice to see Jasper and his cranky side. I laughed when he didn't want to move. Poppy seems to like being near her dad and also likes the camera, yes? Is Hamish camera shy? I look forward to seeing and Fran and Rich ( with Archie and Jess) doing this tidal run. Be well.

You are so right Leigh! Poppy is definitely the attention seeker and is happy to be on camera, and always wants to be up on the back with her dad. There was no putting her inside even when it was hot, she just hopped right back up there! And Jasper was definitely our stubborn one, digging his heels in when he didn’t want to move! Hamish is the one that just goes where you want, albeit slowly now. He’s turning 14 next month. I’m just editing the next episode on the river with Fran and Rich and hope to have it out by the end of the week 😊

Enjoy your 82°. We have had 21/2 months of over 100 here in TX with hardly any rain. At least I am in west Texas and do not have to deal with the humidity like you did In Houston.

We have not missed the hot and humid Houston summer at all, especially this year with the days and days in the 100s and the lack of rain! That was just like the summer we arrived in 2011 and we had a major burst pipe! Oh the memories 😂 Hope it is cooling down for you now 😊

Great video. Stunning shots. Had to watch it twice. First time the CC didn’t come on and the sound was bad. Waited an hour or so and there was the CC. You two have a knack for capturing some beautiful scenes. Love the part where Jasper didn’t want to move. I think he was enjoying his camera time, bless him. Can’t wait to see more of this trip. Thanks for sharing. 🙏😊🤗 🐾🐾🐾❤️ Kathy

@@ruaidhrikathygill8833 I think it takes a while for the CC to publish and the final version to finish processing. I hope the sound improved too? We were laughing as I was editing this, remembering how stubborn Jasper could be when he didn’t want to move! I’m excited to finally publish these videos of our summer cruising, there’s lots more stunning scenery to come! 😊

Hello!! I'm also in Cromwell. Well, Cromwell, Kentucky, in the States lol!! Google says that's only 4056 miles away, so it might as well be the same one 😁😁. I found narrowboat vlogs almost two years ago (Cruising the Cut was my first) and have been obsessed ever since. I found you guys via Rich and Fran maybe 10 days ago and just got caught up. Loving it! I've got two questions as an American watching, and figured since you guys lived over here for 10 years, y'all might be better suited to answer them than some of the other vloggers lol.... 1. I think us and maybe one other country are the only ones that use imperial measurements anymore, but I've noticed the narrowboaters use miles, yards, feet, and inches instead of kilometers, meters, centimeters, and millimeters. I was curious about that? Is GB still not wanting to fully commit to metric, one foot in, one foot out lol? Is it just a boater thing? Because I follow a few British woodworkers on YT, and they use metric measurements. 2. If you guys drive on the left, why do you float the canals on the right?? Anyway, just a couple a things I've been curious about lol. Loving the vlogs and all the beautiful English countryside and old architecture (and the pubs!). If I ever hit the lottery, I'm coming over and gonna cruise the cut for a couple of years and see it all in person 🤞🤞.

Hi Chad! Glad you found us, and thanks for watching! Your story is so similar to ours. We too started off watching Cruising The Cut, which started our obsession with narrowboats, and then found Fran and Rich on KZbin and started messaging them when we decided that perhaps this boating lifestyle was for us. We had already decided to move back to the UK as our kids were just about to graduate from college. We have now become best of boaty friends with them, and our summer cruising together was just wonderful. I don’t like being so behind with editing, but it is lovely reliving all of these memories! Your questions have really got us thinking, and you are right, the UK is a hybrid of the metric and imperial systems. Speedometers in cars are in miles, as are road signs, but weights and measures in shops are in metric. As for the waterways, those too are a hybrid. Canals are measured in miles, with mileage markers indicated in the Nicholsons Guide map books that we use. Locks depth is measured in feet and inches. However, the rivers have kilometre markers! All very confusing when you think about it! Boats follow global marine law which dictates that you keep to the right, even though we drive cars on the left! Thanks for your very thought provoking questions! 😊

@One Day More Aboard and now all my narrowboating curiosities are answered!! Lol. I could definitely see having to know both measurements would be confusing. Where I work, some stuff is metric, some imperial, never understood why they don't just pick one and go with it 🤷🤣😂. But at least I can somewhat use metric now!! Floating Our Boat, Country House Gent, Cruising the Cut, and now you two are my favorites! Keep up the fun work ❤️

As you travel from place to place, do you notice a difference in the taste or quality of the water?
@onedaymoreaboard
@onedaymoreaboard Жыл бұрын
We have really not thought about it until you asked that question, but we both agree that we really don’t notice. We fill up every time we pass a water point, so have water mixing from different areas in our water tank all the time. Thanks for watching 😊

I know here in the states one can detect differences from town to town, and even within my large city as they have different sources in different parts of town. Of course you have a blend that would probably negate most differences.
