I love how Jiraiya doesn't let his emotions for these kids get in the way. If he sees them as a threat, he doesn't hesitate into trying to stop them. Not to belittle the third hokage but when he caught Orochimaru doing shitty stuff, he let him go. Or when Orochimaru asked Tsunade to heal his arms so he could destroy the leaf, she was actually considering to do it (Because he'd resurrect her brother and lover). But what did Jiraiya say to her: if you dare to betray the leaf, I'LL KILL YOU. And that's Tsunade, for crying out loud! But he is goddamn determined. He even said to Konan that no matter how this may end, he doesn't regret letting them live, because he believes that back then that was the right thing to do. He always remains true to his beliefs, morals and principles!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO This is gonna be one epic battle between master and student. Also yes Jiraiyas funny goofy nature during this scene helped provide some relief after than intense speech Pain gave. Clever writing on Kishimotos part. So I am going to be analyzing Pains statement about "Pain makes you grow up" phase because this can be said for most of the characters in Naruto who had tragic backstories. All of the pain they endured and experiences which came with it has forced them to view the world in a way through the eyes of an adult. Losing that innocence of a child has pushed them into immersing themselves into a higher state of thinking which involves looking for answers to deeper questions about humanity. Having to go through that much pain at such a young age could mentally crumble someone's perception of the world and either make or break someone's will to live. Jiraiya has mentioned about wisdom in his previous scenes with Tsunade. "That the only thing to look forward to when growing old is Wisdom." One can attain wisdom through experiences where they could truly begin to learn from hardships and figure a way past them. In that sense they can pass this knowledge to guide the next generation from the misfortunes of life. So when Pain is talking about how he went from a man to a god initially he is saying he has risen above life itself and would be the one to correct the world from its humanistic ideologies, he would be the one to teach the world pain so it can mature to a state of peace and stability. In this case we can verify that Pain will be the tool used in order for people to gain mutual understanding with each other and cease all conflicts which would breed hatred and despair. Pains ideology is an interesting one to digest, in a sense he is trying to unite the world under a theme of fear so that it would constitute order and breed peace. Anyways characters who fit this motto so far about pain forcing them to mature (without spoilers) Naruto Gaara Neji Sasuke Kakashi Sasori Kimimaro //There are probably more but I cant think of them right now :3 A short analysis for today ^^

What Pain wants to do is establish peace through deterrence and MAD (mutually assured destruction), which is the same system in place in the REAL WORLD to deter nuclear war. In essence, if he creates Tailed Beast Weapons (which are the equivalent to nukes) and hands them out to all the Great Nations, they'll eventually use them and see just how horrifyingly destructive they are, thereby creating a fear of war and violence. Also, by giving them to all the large nations, it guarantees that as soon as one village uses a Tailed Beast Weapon, all the other villages will retaliate in kind, which is the same principle as Mutually Assured Destruction.

What Pain says is logical think of it like in the real world some countries developed atomic bombs and just the posession of such nuclear weapons rises the fear of other nations to attack or invade them.
