Its ok not to love Kaguya, but because of the length of Naruto things tend to get layered on top of one another. People tend to say that she "ruined" the show, but really when you look back on it, her introduction and existence has purpose. People love Madara but it would have made no sense for him to be the final villain, mainly because of everything else we were shown up to this point. Hogoromo (and by extent kaguya) were teased and hinted to as far back as the pain arc when Nagato created his Planetary Devastation and referenced the sage creating the moon. Essentially if Madara was the final villain too many threads would be left in the air. Why did the sage create the moon? where did ten tails come from? Why is it said ten tails is sealed in the moon, if the 9 tailed beast are living fractions of it? if the sage truly was a man of peace why are there so many different accounts of him from so many characters like The tailed beasts, Obito, Nagato, Jiraya, and Madara? why would a man of peace tell the Uchiha to do what the stone tablet said? if he truly write the tablet why is he helping Naruto and Sasuke trying to stop the tree? Etc. Kaguya is in essence the center mass of all things that the show was building to in terms of lore of the world itself, the origin of what is "YIN&YANG". Her use could have been handled better, but she was not something that was just thought up of on the fly. There was intent to her presence and thought to her purpose.

@@narukazunoice The best way i have always viewed it is that Naruto is the main character we follow, but he isnt the ONLY character in the show. The world in many aspects is much bigger than him. This isnt to say that what black zetsu was saying was right, each person in the show that had their own stories and lives and actions they did. It is just that Kaguya's story is best thought of as the center of what is a giant web, and that web is the world of the show. If that makes any sense.

This is not just in reply to you, but everyone here. If i were to make an analogy, Kaguya's appearance in Shippudden was akin to Game of Thrones S8. Makes sense and everyone's expections were within that range, but it was too rushed and poorly executed. Creating a piece of art or writing for viewers means you have to take them into consideration as well, especially by virtue of it being a profession. The fact that much of the fanbase including myself found Kaguya problematic says a lot about how the execution and pacing could have been improved. It wasn't just about Kaguya, but I wish Naruto could have developed his Sage jutsu and KCM more before attaining his Ashura powers. It just felt like the villains went from 50 to a 1000 in a snap, and so narratively Naruto had to hop from one mode to another without natural progression. Sage mode and his first Kurama form felt so wasted without seeing the practice and personality he had put into his other jutsus. The rhythm just feels disrupted and it's harder to resonate with that growth. Again, not to discredit the villains, lore or thought process behind Kaguya. But I find it hard to believe anyone who is so committed to their craft and in love with their characters would rush it like this and diminish it. I could be wrong but Kishimoto seems like he was forced to hit a deadline.

@@VDA19 I think that was the point people miss kaguya as disconnectd from the world and all that happened was because of that disconnection, the change from ninshu to ninjutsu happened because of that and is what frove the whole power of war and ninja clashes, although I would agree on the fact that madara didnt need that background to work, the world of naruto did need a connection to that final answer that naruto found which was more close to ninshus way (evryone jokes about the talkno jutsu because is hard to believe in our reality but considering ninshu that is the whole point that makes it work in there) sure maara was from a realistic perspective the way it should have go IF the world of naruto folloed our own logic, but while similar it was different at its core and its difficult to comprehend without context which is why the ninshu and origin is neccesary, too bad normies skipped the whole part where they explain that at last in their reactions so far. Now dont get me wrong kaguya introduced a fw loose ends that should have been left open, and tht boruto just made wierd in the context of what narutos world should be since it was made by a different person ven if Kishimoto had to take it back the change was made and it made it wierd and contradictory to a point. TL:DR it is important context that got very muddy to comprehend and later it became harder to get because it was driven out of course. But it has a point.

I hope these guys know to watch the next few episodes after Episode 480 is it? and to watch the movies THE LAST and BORUTO film and DO NOT SKIP THE CREDITS for those films and they both have End-Credit Scenes too. Watching Boruto the Movie is a nice way to cap off the series as a whole. Whether you want to continue afterwards is up to you but people will cry that its mostly filler when in reality the majority of the anime is canon and actually develops the new world and characters which the main story does NOT do at all. There are currently 22 Arcs in the anime so far most ranging from good to okay with really like only two to three arcs being considered really, really bad. I wouldn't skip most of it as some arcs do tie-in together for when it starts getting to the Manga storylines as they develop and set up alot fo the future stories to come in those. But you do you. I'd suggest watching the Boruto Movie to end it on and call it quits and maybe continuing the show in like 4 years or something.

Kaguya was a Force of Nature. She wasn't a villain like the others. The characters were fighting basically God/Satan at the same time. The theme and concept of that is good and they did build up to her and set up with several hints that hardly anyone picks up on. Plus if Madara had been the final villain it wouldn't have worked. His character and his actions were not completely evil. Talk No Jitsuing him would not have worked and defeating him would not solve the problems that he had stated. The Infinite Dream is not a pure Negative thing. Having the twist revealed that it was a ploy by Black Zetzu and Kaguya makes the stakes higher than ever, completes Madara's Arc of never watching his back and thinking he was above everyone and being brought down considerably by realizing how super wrong he was about everything and it gave us the origins of Chakra, the Naruto World and set it up as well for future stories to go into. The story ending with Madara could only realistically end in two ways. Either he wins or Naruto and him have to come to an understanding. What happens when the people are released from the Jitsu? Would they want to go back in after experiencing the peace they got from it? The story couldn't end with Madara as the final villain because logically he's not a villain anymore. He's the hero of his own story and he just won. Peace has technically been achieved. There needed to be a bigger threat to reveal that the Infinite Dream was not overall a good thing and something that would bring everyone in the world of Naruto together to fight against. With Kaguya's existence there is now a revelation that they are not alone in the world and that there are other threats far worser out there that the nations need to unite against together. Honestly, the best example of characters stuck in a dream world and having to battle the mastermind who isn't a pure bad guy was done and told better in the Video Game Persona 5 Royal Edition. Maybe if Naruto had gone that route it would have worked better? But honestly, I preferred what we got instead. Seeing Madara go from this smug over-confident asshole to a deadman realizing his mistakes and being used like a pawn the way he used Obito, Nagato and others was poetic justice.

Personally, I believe Kaguya's arc would make more sense if she was introduced before the war arc, so there is some anticipation of her entrance and impact to the story and show in general. Just like with Madara, they have been hyping him from the beginning of Shippuden, and we naturally expect him to appear later in the show. She was the root and source of everything, but she wasn't presented until the very end of the series, so I completely get your point about her.

Kaguya was definitely a weird turn that nobody expected nor wanted. Madara should have stayed the main baddy.

Except Japanese people, Kaguya is an established Japanase Mythological character as is a lot of stuff in Naruto. Orochimaru, based on Orochi, Kaguya based on a moon goddess, Amaterasu, Susano'o, all Japanese mythology.

It's not quite over. You guys know this, by now. I am VERY interested you you guys' feelings about this last part. After that part, there will be an epilogue, as was mentioned. I don't know if you intend to cover that, but it's interesting, for completeness. There were also a couple of movies, I think. Personally, I think it might also be interesting to take a look at some of the end fillers. They deal with the dreams of the various characters. Some of them are interesting, and others are hilarious. Perhaps, there is a list of which ones are worthwhile. The end is very close. It has been great sharing the adventure with you guys. Just to be clear guys, Kakashi is still a Kage level shinobi, just because he lost his Sharingan doesn’t mean he’s weak. None of the previous Hokage had the Sharingan and they were all pretty OP, Kakashi can still use most chakra natures and various ying/yang ninjutsu. He is still one of the strongest lightning chakra users in the world and that will get him far.
