It was his long reach chidori, he uses it next ep on Orochimaru. Also the reason naruto is able to use rasen shuriken later with no reprecautions is because of his sage mode having healing capabilities. Go back to the sage mode training arc and you'll see he says "maybe I can use that jutsu now" and he goes out to train at night.

Yeah throughout the show it always goes through a cycle where Naruto gets powers > Sasuke gets powers and so on, if he couldn't use his rasen shuriken he wouldn't have anything to counter his lightning jutsu, supposedly. @@quentinjones6877

Isn't it kinda dumb that kakashi kills kakuzu right here? I mean the purpose of Asuma's team mission in the first round was to take down an Akatsuki and capture the other one. It was the perfect opportunity, they could bring kakuzu alive to the leaf and find out intel about the Akatsuki with the powers of Ibiki and Inoichi...

The Backlash occurs because Naruto is striking the enemy directly with Rasenshuriken, meaning Naruto's arm is for a brief moment cought up in his own jitsu. The Backlash practically disappeared because Naruto learned to throw it, that's it.

It's based on feminism where "women don't need a man" and in the end the child turns out to be a criminal because single mothers statistically raise the worst type of people.
