I wonder if Masashi Mishimoto originally intended Naruto to end the way it did. Tobi/Obito just using the Akatsuki for Madara. Then getting turned on by black Zetsu. There are moments like this in early Shippuden that make me think it wasn’t supposed to play out how it did.
