I had a theory that Itachi was Jiraiya's informant in the Akatsuki. Jiraiya always said that he got his very sensitive information from a trusted source and it was revealed that Itachi was in fact providing the leaf with some information but who would he have given his information to once the third died? Jiraiya and Danzo are the only options i can think of but Itachi was not on good terms with Danzo so i doubt he would stay in contact with him.

Danzo was scared of Itachi, like manz did not want to double cross him in any capacity. Considering that Itachi basically ran on-site when seeing Jiraiya, it could be plausible. Which Jiraiya wanting to travel with Naruto while training him would make it harder for Itachi to outright fetch Naruto say that was his motivation.

I personally thought that naruto's talk no jutsu was his tailed beast power. All the other jinchuriki get a cool nature transformation or power based on their tailed beast, but all we knew about kyuubi was that he was the strongest and the most hateful towards humans. And at the time, i thought the two were connected, whereas the other were limited by how much sand or water they could make or use, Kurama could literally eat the hatred of nearby humans and was both strengthened and influenced by it. It explained why his own backstory was so tame compared to gaara despite being comparatively equally hated, he was eating their hatred till it turned to annoyance and apathy. It explained why he can just talk all his enemies down, he's eating at all their negative emotions. It even explained why he himself was so happy go lucky, he was literally eating his feelings. But no, apparently just a hug gets rid of a lifetimes worth of bottled up feelings and repression

I definitely thought pain was going to be Naruto’s older brother. Sasuke’s fight against his brother, pain having orange hair which is the mix of minato(yellow) and kushina(red). And the series keeps drilling into us that naruto doesn’t have any family.

I used to have this theory that Minato was actually Tsunades son. In her grief over Dan she gave him up and didn’t tell anyone save for jiraiya. Hence him taking him on as a student. She allows naruto to just call her grandma. It would have allowed naruto the wood release making him the parallel to the hashirama/madara and naruto/sasuke

I recall people comparing Dan and Minato similarities before. I have mixed feelings on this, but I eventually was won over because Tsunade's influence as one of the closest things to a parental figure in Naruto's life waned tremendously after Minato and Kushina were introduced. This would explain why Naruto and Nawaki seemed so similar to each other and why Tsunade thought so highly of Minato's technique.

I remember a theory (post pain arc, pre main war arc) where Naruto were to lose his eyes at some point, possibly against Sasuke, and then implant Nagatos eyes which Konan would give to him, making him have Rinnegan. I think it died pretty hard a as theory when Naruto got Kyuubi Cloak.

If Naruto had the two rinnegan + KCM2 Sage Mode it would have been gg in the war arc for Madara and Obito. Because Naruto would control the Gedo Statue before any of them could and he would just yank the beasts out of it no prob. Madara wouldn't be revived, Obito would never have become Juubito. Damn, he befriended all of the Tailed Beasts, so maybe he could make pact with them, so he could become the the 10 tails Jinchuuriki to defeat them both and seal the statue and Madara away. After that he could keep the statue in himself and release all the Bijuu again. He wouldn't die, because the statue was still in his, because of Kurama extraction. And he would still have the Rinnegan after that. Even the final fight would be gg for Sasuke. So I am kinda glad that theory died.

I had my own personal theory that the Uzamaki were evil, still alive and behind everything. I also had a theory that the Uzamaki’s could reproduce eye techniques because they were actually just evolved seals. I still to this day think think that an evil off shoot of the Uzamaki would be more compelling villains than Kara and aliens in Boruto.

rinnegan being a rare offshoot awakening of the uzamaki makes more sense than the actual stuff. also, outside of the otsutsuki, we have seen exactly 2 rinnegans made ever, one of which was a main protagonist. if we assume nagato is 1 and that Naruto would awaken the other, that would be just as many rinnegans as there are in canon. it is actually MORE consistent to make rinnegan an uzamaki trait and requires LESS work to fenangle in the writing and the plot.

Actually he's based on a very specific type of Yokai that usually has the head of an ox, the claws of a tiger, and the the body and legs of a spider which Kishimoto translated into octopus tentacles to be a bit more original.

I used to have two theories about Tobi. First was when Tobi said "I am an empty shell of my former self" I thought Tobi was a Black Zetsu whose soul was an exact copy of Madara's. Mirroring how White Zetsu could copy chakra/body. The second theory was when Konan broke Tobi's mask revealing what I thought was an older person made me think it was Kagami Uchiha. Kagami meaning mirror so I thought it meant he was reflecting Madara's personality. Edit: Also Kagami lived in the era of Madara which would have further supported the theory

I've always had a theory that adamantine chains aren't just a Uzumaki kekkei genkai, but further that female clan members are the only ones that can summon them. I'm unaware of a male member of the clan ever shown summoning them. This would mean the next eligible user would be Himawari, which would be pretty powerful if combined with gentle fist rotation. Extending the range of that technique, capturing an enemy at range to get closer, and the natural fuinjutsu of it, Himawari could easily become the most powerful Uzumaki combatant.

I love that last comment you made about the Nanabi being sealed inside an Aburame. That would be incredible, as the effect of an insectoid's tailed beast chakra on an Aburame's hive would be insane. The main limiting factor of an Aburame is the fact that almost all of their chakra is dedicated to maintaining their hive, and the constant pull on their chakra from their parasitic insects makes their chakra control and quality super refined. Now, imagine the monster that is an Aburame and his hive, with the power of a tailed beast, perhaps the only tailed beast that wouldn't immediately kill the chakra feeding bugs due to shared biology. Monstrous, absolutely monstrous. It makes me incredibly sad that Fu a) Never actually interacted with Shino during the second Chuunin Exams (what a terrible filler plot, could Kishimoto have done any worse?) and they become friends, And b) Didn't survive the show to make a family with Shino. They could have created an incredibly strong lineage with the Nanabi secured by the Aburame, like how the Kyuubi was bound to the Uzumaki.

I honestly thought Shuisui was Tobi 1. His relationship with Itachi they seem pretty close and Shuisui is someone that knew about Danzo and that Itachi would have to kill the Uchia 2. His strength levels, Minato was impressed with Tobi and Obito growth during those 2 years was unreal while Shuisui was one of the strongest in the Uchia 3. The 5 kage summit where they discuss the Mizukage being controlled by a Koto level genjustu, one of Shuisui abilities and also him assisting Sasuke in killing Danzo But to fair to Kishimito he did foreshadow Obito ever since the Akastuki appeared

Not really a theory but before finding out about Tsunade and the tales of the sannin I felt Sakura shouldn't have been on team 7. After team 7 was forms and they fought Kakashi, Kakashi says Sakura had better chakra control than Sasuke and Naruto; that she would be a good genjutsu user. That's when I thought Kurenai would have been the perfect teacher for Sakura and Hinata would've been good on team 7 because of her feelings for Naruto and team 7 would have been more balanced with having a sensory type ninja.

I thought she served a good purpose as providing tension between sasuke and naruto early on. It made her character look much worse but I appreciate that we had a good focus on Sakura and she actually showed character development whenever she showed concern for naruto, like in the chunin exams written portion and she knew naruto would fail. She wanted to opt out for his sake to give him another chance at passing. She was very important to the story and naruto’s development as a character. I wish there was more shown of her relationship to sasuke because they really didn’t have enough dialogue with him. The only time they had important character moments was when he concern for her after seeing her hurt in the fight against dosu and the sound ninja. It was one of the only times he showed his concern for her and gave him development as well. Team seven really had some great character moments despite their flaws. I think her joining team seven later would’ve changed too much of the story. Even though there was definitely a lot of the story that could’ve been changed to improve the writing. However, I loved your idea of having kurenai teach her genjutsu. It would’ve made sense and maybe Lee or guy teaching Hinata some taijutsu. I the rookie 9 and konoha 11, also their respective jonin, should’ve had more interaction with each other and maybe some switching team members for certain missions and stuff like that. Naruto is unique that way, how just switching characters around would’ve made it much better. It’s very fun to think about what kishimoto could’ve changed even if it created plot holes. Kurenai and her team definitely could’ve used more focus in the story and putting sakura in there would’ve been the answer. Maybe they could’ve had an arc just for team kurenai with Sakura instead of hinata. It would alter the story dramatically to have hinata instead of Sakura join in the land of waves arc but it’s a very a fun idea. Sakura didn’t do enough during the fight with zabuza and haku, and hinata would’ve been a much better fit. It would’ve worked if they made hinata have a crush on sasuke instead of naruto, and hinata falling in love with naruto gradually, as he showed her kindness and he had his great character moments in that arc. It would’ve also saved Sakura from alot of fan hate but she had a real important role in the early parts of the chunin exams and gaara fight.

@@Gilbert_Dice_Gottfried I like where you went with this. It would have been amazing to have the jonin either switch team members or did joint training from time to time. We've seen the effects of learning from your peers when Naruto was learning to use wind nature and he talked to Asuma another wind user. Also, you would think doing joint training sessions or switching team members would happen especially after Hiruzen died. With Orochimaru and finding out about the Akatsuki shortly after, it would've made more sense to better prepare the genin for big enemies.

I like the Orochimaru theory. I always found it odd that a person that is studying all ninjutsu finds Naruto, identifies that he is a Jinchuuriki, and doesn't take him along with Sasuke? I've had two theories about Minato family and why they couldn't take care of Naruto or were are they. 1 They were ANBU or some high ranking ninjas ,so they were to stay hidden or they were on mission. That would also kinda explain why Minato is so strong and knows this many jutsu. 2 the Namikaze family isn't from Konoa at all. I think this is probably it because the name isn't never mentioned in Konoa at all and we don't really see other side characters reassemble Minato. Also this would explain why he seemed interested in Kushina being a "outsider" himself. Maybe he was a refugee from a close village.

First theory's answer is that the kyuubi or kurama killed Naruto's parents the first minutes he was born. Second theory's answer is that Minato kept his clan name hidden because it was too dangerous to have his clan name namikaze because it was too dangerous. That's why he named the clan uzumaki instead of namikaze. And Minato knew that he's dead and kushina's also dead so if people find out that he's clan name is namikaze they will go after him and use him for experiments like ororchimaru does.

A theory that I remember believing as a teen was that Kakashi was somewhat related to the Inuzuka clan do to his high senses, affinity for ninja hound summons, and his father literally being called white fang. A lot of people kinda just assumed Kakashi's mother was an unnamed Inuzuka but I always thought that Kakashi's father Sakumo had some relation to them. Not enough to actually be a full blood Inuzuka at that point but not to the place where all those powerful traits are fully dulled. Maybe like back in grandparents or even possibly great great grandparents there was an Inuzuka that married into the Hatake line. It was a fun theory if you kinda ignore that Kakashi probably has heightened senses do to being trained in Anbu

My friends and I had a theory that Naruto was, in fact.. Minato. Let me explain: Our theory was that during the Kyuubi attack, Minato's Reaper Death Seal had backfired somehow, taking his body back to a baby and sealing the Ninetails within him. That explained (in our minds) his obsession with being Hokage (because he already HAD been Hokage), his learning the same jutsu Minato was known for (Rasengan), his similarities to Minato, etc. It wasn't until well into Shippuden that we finally got enough information to finally say it wasn't true, but it was a fun theory while it lasted.

I believed this theory as well! My proof was how the 3rd Hokage sealed Oro’s arms into his belly and had a seal exactly like Naruto’s on his belly when he died. And instead of killing him, it reverted him back to a child because of the nine tails chakra. It made sense back then. In the late 90s some anime we’re doing the same thing; reverting main characters back into babies. The sea on the stomach was a dead giveaway almost as easy as Tobi being Obito... it would have explained more why he’d want to be hokage, how he learned the 4th’s move so easily, and how he had an impact on people... oh well.

one of my theories was that the Sharingan was actually just able to help the user copy jutsu with its ability of enhanced perception but the other abilities where added by stealing other Dōjutsu like Ranmaru's Kekkei Genkai and that's how it could actually do genjutso and wasn't able to do it on its own. but that was pretty quickly thrown out when they kept stacking random powers into the Sharingan. I was always like him I wonder what other kind of kekkei genkai and Dōjutsu's where out there still to be found. like maybe some kind of super eye could be made if all the eyes where collected or something.

I remember being younger watching Naruto for the first time. The lore was somewhat alluring with how much detail it's trying to shove in your face all at once. Where did all these jutsu come from? Where did chakra come from? Where did the clans come from? Where did the tailed beasts come from? What kind of world/verse is the Naruto verse? Why are things the way they are in the Naruto verse? In comparison to other anime Naruto is a bit weird. The beginning of the franchise leaves everything open ended and full of the illusion of depth and history. It's almost like you are playing the second game of a series. And the world building is very organic, but not like it's entirely unique, it's just so specific with the exclusions of certain technology and types of civilizations etc . All these things really stirred my curiosity as to the historical part of the lore and enabled me conjure up a couple light theories. One of my first thoughts was in an authors perspective... This show was always making allusions to historical events or similar in the verse. Unlike other series where they were mostly focusing on current events, and the origin of anything being brushed upon were briefly explained at the very least (a lot of origin stories are bare bones and typical like, this group were gifted these powers by a powerful being. this energy or magic system was created by this being. these people come from another planet. This civilization evolved from this.) These blunt and basic explanations of the origins of things were either brought to light early on or much much later as a cheap tear jerker in some cases. I always felt as if the history of Naruto was going to be violent and strictly focusing on it's own planet unlike other franchises (DBZ). The other thing was the way the characters approach things in their life so practically and logically. There is almost not mention of religion. it's as if there is an unspoken FACT that the afterlife or spirit realm is real. This paired with the clans and the brief history of the ninja world led me to believe that they had evolved over thousands of years to what they are now. With religion or some form of spirituality being the thing that enables them to use energy as a weapon or tool instead of a connection to their faith. That their abilities are just evolved from the constant wars and the need to undermine their enemy nations affinities with some of their own. This would have legitimately explained the lack of tech and vehicles, and the reason why some people are normal and the clans are born with their abilities, and the ridiculous amount of jutsu as implied by orochimaru. But one major thing that had me stumped were the summoned animals and tailed beasts as their inclusion really contrasts/clashes with the overall feel of Naruto verse. Most of these things(like talking animals and divine beasts/omens of nature) are just part of that organic thing i was talking about earlier. Either way my little theory can apply on animals too. The potential Naruto had to be a darker and grittier series was almost palpable. I literally thought the show was gonna turn out like this . . . Naruto chases his dream while fighting immoral or unforgivable villains, but along the way a new war breaks out and bloody unrelenting conflict ensues making Naruto mature much sooner than intended as he realizes he can't save everyone and the resulting trauma solidifies his resolve to bring peace to the world. As the plot kept developing tho, it didn't turn out that way exactly but the character development was similar. To be honest I thought to myself if the origin of the Shinobi powers wasn't from some form of evolution then it was going to be from some powerful being(s) but i never imagined they were going to undermine one of the most fulfilling endings to series by dropping the origin over madara's corpse like that.

Something similar to what was alluded to throughout the series by various characters. I also had the theory that Tobi was Izuna. That Madara upon getting the Rinnegan, brought his brother back to life, than after he died Izuna as Tobi would give Madara's Rinnegan to Nagato for his own plans including him bringing the real Madara back to life, would take the orginal eyes of Madara thus giving himself the EMS and while not Madara, Izuna would have issues with the Senju clan, support the same plan as Madara, and know most of Madara's life.

I remember a theory that I liked very much: Back in the beginning of Shippuden, with the reveal of the Akatsuki and their goal of hunting all the tailed beasts, we thought that the host of the 5-tailed beast was Kakashi himself (either secretly or hidden by the Leaf Village), and the tailed beast was a white wolf that allowed him to use jutsus of the 5 elements (fire, water, earth, wind and lightning) and each of the tails would look like it was infused with an element. Personally the first Naruto theory I heard growing up was about Tobi's true identity being "Naruto's dad". I was only watching the anime back then and manga readers were pointing out the similarities about his and Naruto's hairstyles. Also if Lord 4th had already been name dropped as "Minato" by that point, it wasn't officially confirmed yet that he was Naruto's dad (which I think was the second Naruto theory I even heard as a kid). Then the theory about Tobi being Obito started to take root and most people I've seen talking about it online moved to that one.

A bit late but when I was reading the manga and the Rinnegan was just introduced, I had the idea that if the sharingan had all these insane abilities like a skill tree, why not the Byakugan (probably misspelled, sorry). It was incorrect of course but wouldn't it have been amazing if Hinata unlocked Rinnegan while standing up against Pain? She would still be inexperienced with it and still lose, but seeing how Uchiha and Hyuga clans were well known for ocular abilities it just made sense to me at the time.

It's been so long at this point... I don't remember if I had any theories back then. 😆 It was probably more of a hope... that Sakura would be useful one day. But now... I just really want to know how old Konoha is as a hidden Village because I really don't think it is as old as one would expect. - Tsunade is 51 in the beginning of Naruto and grand daughter of the 1st hokage who founded the village. - Hashirama married Mito and they had at least one child who was a parent of Tsunade's. If we consider it a fast paced environment Hashirama might have been in his early 40s when she was born. But we don't know how old Hashirama was when he died and 40 would be fairly old for a ninja. We don't know how much younger Tobirama is and for how long either of them were Hokage - which doesn't really help the timeline at all. - But we do know Hiruzen (the third Hokage) was the student of both Hashirama and Tobirama and was amongst the first generation of ninja wearing Konoha's headbands (at least if the wiki tells the truth), the Sarutobi clan being amongst the first to join Konoha after it was founded. He died when he was around the age of 70. This does help the timeline making Konoha not even a century old when we start the story. And I just cannot wrap my head around that. 🤣

I don't think you just replace your eyes with your brother's eyes to get EMS. That way you'll just end up with your brother's MS and lose your own. The fact that EMS combines the shape of both eyes and does away with blindness proves that there's some kind of super imposition going on. Also the fact that you retain your abilities and do not get your brother's abilities. Because in a regular transplant, you get the abilities of the transplanted eye like Kakashi and Nagato.

So, I have a serious question. If orochimaru's "Soul" was sealed in the blade, then does the current orochimaru have no soul? We know his curse seals allow him to monitor people and things from within the mark. And he clearly is mentally intact after revived. So are the curse seals the equivalent of naruto horcruxes? (Ie containing fragments of his soul?) If not... How can orochimaru both be mentally present, capable of great change, new ideas, etc after revival, and yet have his soul in the gourd? Does each curse mark contain an entire Orochimaru soul? And if so, why does he have so many souls, and why don't the curse marks mentally effect people more than they do? And looking back, if not having the soul responsible for his arms meant he could barely move them, then the revived Orochimaru should have been nothing but a whining body, unable to move more than some fingers and toes. Which means even if each curse seal is a horcrux, then we clearly know that a body can't function well with a piece of soul missing. So imagine him missing half or more of his soul, not just the soul that controls his arms. Thats without considering his arms. As orochimaru's soul was split into 2 parts. The arms, in the belly of the reaper, and the rest of his soul in Itachi's gourd. If not for his behavior after being revived but before retrieving the part of his soul in the reaper, I would believe that it was just the arms soul allowing this. But that also can't be, because until he cut the reaper's belly open, that soul was also sealed away, just in a different place. Clearly being revived via curse seal can't just instantly free his soul. (Let alone that it's split into 2 parts and sealed into 2 different places.) So what is going on here? Obviously I agree that the story really needs massive re-writes. This makes no sense to me. Even worse, clearly souls are an important part of you, because of how the pure lands work, and how that works with Edo Tensei. So are souls just not needed for a living body? Do you just not need a soul so long as you have a living body? In which case you could potentially somehow send your soul to the pure lands, then use Edo Tensei on your own soul, and have 2 of yourself? In which case, you could use yourself as a sacrifice, and thusly gain an immortal body that, because the summoner is dead and can't control you, is effectively a perfect vessel?

i kinda think that it he broke his soul in pieces just like voldemort in harry potter. The curse marks he gave to people is where he is storing his soul for possible revival. Itachi only sealed away a piece of that soul.

I think each bit of chakra sealed away is part of your soul and can go on. like most of Minato's chakra was in the Shinigami's stomach but the memories of the portion in Naruto's seal seemed to pop up in Minato's head once he was an Edo Tensei.

I had four theories I wanted to see happen. 1) That Rock Lee would Marry Ten Ten and they would create this clan of taijutsu and weapons users. 2) That the Suicide Corps would transition into The Strong Fist clan and rival the Hyuga clan. 3) That Rock Lee would prefect the Leaf Dragon God and incorporate into the Eight Gates. Using it exclusively with the 5th gate. 4) That Amachi would escape prison and disappear into the sea to create an underwater village and found the Kaima Demon clan.

One of my favorite things about NC hammer’s videos are his theories and fun ideas of how the story could’ve been altered. I would love if people started writing their own alternative timelines of Naruto and making them into stories. I know there is stuff like that but it hasn’t really caught on as a thing. Naruto lore definitely needs some expanding, fan fiction and theories are the way to do it. I think the fans would much prefer that to boruto so maybe the naruto staff should keep an open mind to that and help turn other people’s ideas into naruto spin off anime series. I’d watch it. I don’t know why more hasn’t been done to do that to the light novels as a start.

Minato being the leader of the Akatsuki actually would’ve made a lot of sense as if Minato changed after fighting the Kyubi (perhaps while in purgatory or if he was brought back with edo tensei perhaps by Tobi) and was exiled from the village then that would explain why no-one told Naruto who his dad was. Hiruzen would’ve tried to keep it under wraps and Danzo, fearing that the villagers would’ve tried to exile Naruto, also kept that part secret as ppl knowing Naruto was a jinchuriki was enough and exiling him would’ve lost the leaf the 9 tails. As for why Minato didn’t take Naruto with him, Hiruzen would’ve did all he could to prevent that from happening like how Obi-Wan made every effort to prevent Vader from getting his hands on Luke. Then as for why Minato sealed the 9 tails in Naruto in the first place, he would’ve did it for the same reasons as he did canonically only now his intentions are different

Ngl, I kinda liked the idea of the rinnegan being a uzumaki clan dojutsu, since the uchiha's mangekyo sharingan is already op enough, I'd be cool to give uzumaki's their own kekkai genkai, also fits with asura and indra inheriting parts of their grandmothers abilities. My explanation for as to why the rinnegan was never used was that the uzumaki's blood got so diluted that the rinnegan could only be accessed by an uzumaki asura reincarnation or the cells of a asura reincarnation.

I made up the theory that Yukimaru (the boy from the filler episodes with the three tailed beast) is the son of Yagura. They have the same eyes and hair color and Yukimaru was kind of able to control Isobu who was sealed in Yagura. That made sense to me. And Kagura, the grandson of Yagura, is therefore the son of Yukimaru. But as far as I know, this theory never got approved

same, i also thought that Yukimaru is probably related to one of Isobu's jinchuriki's and when i finally saw Yagura, they looked so similar. This theory also make some sense, because we know Obito was controlling Yagura and both him and Orochimaru were in Akatsuki, so what if Yagura had wife and son, but after his wife saw what Yagura became she took their son and left village and when Obito found out about Yukimaru's existence, he told Orochimaru to take care of him or Orochimaru found out about Yukimaru and stole it from Obito and it was part of reason for his departure in Akatsuki.

And since Yukimaru was technically an orphan now, Orochimaru took him. Perhaps, Obito and Orochimaru planned together to get Yagura and his son under control; so Obito controled Yagura to make the wife ran away so Orochimaru can kidnap Yukimaru after getting rid of his mother. Or Obito didn't know that Yagura had a child, maybe because Yukimaru got kidnapped by Orochimaru before Obito controlled Yagura. And it could also be possible that Orochimaru took the child and run away from the Akatsuki so they are mad at him and want to kill him for that

Theory: Hashirama's wood release can restrain Bijuu because wood release was used to make the shell of the Ten Tails, which needed to contain bijuu chakra. (This theory sounds obvious but it was never explained why wood release could calm down bijuu chakra, so this is just my theory)

I've always had a theory that Hiruzen saved the leaf village and possibly the entire Shinobi world by halting the summoning of the third coffin in his and Orochimaru's fight. After all, it couldn't have been Minato, he was in the shinigami's stomach. Also, considering that Katubo told Tobi that he had a trump card he acquired from Orochimaru, before initiating the war, which was Madara's body; lead me to believe that Hiruzen prevented Madara from being revived. One of the theories that I heard, was that Tenten was an Uzumaki but was taken to Konoha. Her proficiency in tool summons was a part of her Uzumaki lineage
