In my opinion, I think Sasuke turns out like this no matter what. If you remember the canon story, Sasuke ALWAYS felt inferior to Itachi and he wanted his dad's love and respect. And he never gave that to Sasuke despite him being better than his class. He kept comparing him to "Itachi did it when he was ___" or it was easier for Itachi. And he didn't show Sasuke love until Itachi grew closer and colder from the family. In real life that's enough to push a person to anger and resentment. In the filler, he had to deal with that even longer than usual to his later teenage years. And he was always emotional. So I can see this as being one way of things turning out.

Because he’s obviously overrated by fans. Pain arc sage Naruto and war arc sage Naruto are 2 completely different characters in terms of power. Like it or not a fight between hebi sasuke and pain arc sage Naruto would be extreme high diff for both of them. Sasuke actually has an even bigger win con than sage Naruto because Naruto is more likely to get hit by Kirin than sasuke is by something as slow as a rasenshuriken. Sage Naruto himself is also still significantly slower than hebi sasuke which is another thing people tend to forget. However a common misconception is that sage Naruto scales to sasuke after he gets the MS. Some fans are actually confused but most are just delusional. Sage Naruto literally gets oneshot by MS sasukes ENTIRE arsenal. Flame control is one shotting, regular genjutsu is oneshotting, susano is oneshotting. NARUTO HIMSELF STATED he would need to master kuramas chakra to be a match for kage summit sasuke. Meaning after seeing what sasuke was capable of, Naruto HIMSELF admits he needs a bigger increase in power to take sasuke.
