Well actually if you read the novel she was worried about hanabi , however she decided to knit a scarf when Toneri asked her to do so and she had to it because she didn't want toneri to suspect her especially when she was going undercover. She didn't understand the weight on her shoulder and canonically in the manga she rejects the training even when Delta try to kill her father and her family. Even when jigen stepped into her house and nearly killed her father wasn't worried. Finally Boruto matured only through Sasuke's teachings. Hinata didn't posses the moral strenght to overcome his childish attitude even when Boruto understand deeply Naruto's reason to maintain his position. Her sweetnes is the greatest reason she failed.

The cause came from being the host of all nine bijuus and its greatly shutting down Naruto's body so in a way, yes. Naruto is dying. Recently in Sasuke Retsuden Sasuke and Sakura found a cure (the polar particles) to help with his illness but sadly it only lengthen Naruto's life span. His condition is still getting worse.
