This is a top 5 Nas album. We gotta get out of being stuck at Illmatic. We can’t keep saying that man can’t top his FIRST album. KD3 is not “better” but Illmatic also isn’t KD 3. An almost 50 yr old god MC, spittin at this high a level. 17 tracks, no features, no skips, one producer. KD3 is a 5 mic classic. Appreciate it in real time and not years later. The man has arguably the greatest hip hop album of all time. Had the same album inducted into the library Congress at Harvard university. They study illmatic for poetry. And also couple years ago he received an ICON award. Also in the last 2 years he has dropped 3 Classic Albums for the history of the hip hop culture. With topics about almost everything we live in today's world. Any shot at this genius is just a hate move . He's a living legend and the G.O.A.T. In hip hop and all hip hop heads know that. KD3 is in #2 spot on UK hip hop and R&B chart right now. Also Nas is the only rapper in history. To start his career in the 90s and have 4 consecutive albums in the top 10 chart on billboard in this decade. Haters .. sorry. But Nas is the Michael Jordan of hip Hop

I didn't get into NAS until I retired from the Army in 2014. So, I have been catching up on this gentleman since then. The first album I got of his was King's Disease, then I went back into his catalog and to get caught up. This is why I had the issue with the "relevant" comment. I don't even have any of that other guy's music, so relevance or relevancy is subjective. Too me, NAS is one of the G.O.A.T.s in the Culture.

The rapping all over this is on another level. Nas personifies the street philosopher trope completely. Incredible rhyming structures, mastery of cadence and flows that are switched and employed freely and to perfect effect, without sacrificing on story-telling and picture-painting at all. Doing it all on top of flawless production from Hit-Boy. Even Nas's subtle ad-libs are always on-point! He's on a late-career high, it's fucking incredible to experience this. Nas could easily be a poet or a writer, only a few rappers I put on that pedestal.

Eh KD1 wasn't all that. Beats were too upbeat and happy every beat sounded the same. That album wasn't it. Only got a Grammy because the industry thought it was his retirement album. KD2 got snubbed & media went back to ignoring him and that's where Hitboy started progressing the beats for Nas style. After the snub, Nas dropped Magic as a surprise and purposely didn't submit it to the Grammys. He probably won't submit KD3 either because of their agenda against him and him promoting it to the fans instead of the media. Both of these albums are the best of the run and where Hitboy turned up on the beats. Magic is a street banger, a sleeper underground classic, but KD3 culminates to Nas & Hit at their best. A damn near perfect album.

How can Nas be irrelevant? In the last few years he's won a Grammy and been inducted into the Library of congress, documenting his music as culturally signicant to music and American history. His music is taught in classes in Ivy league schools. He just tied Jay-Z with the most top ten albums on billboard among rappers. Also, one of the few rappers or artist with top tens on billboard every decade since they debuted, over 3 decades of top tens. 30 summers. Not to even throw shade but 21 will be lucky to even sniff that. Its not how you start the race but how you finish. Nas is solidified. A legend, relavent in the past, present and how ever longer he wants to do it.
