Finessed Analyzer yes agreed. I was actually introduced to this song by this version and I thought it was the real one for years. Until a year ago I found out it wasn’t the original song. I can’t listen to the original version, it always makes me want to listen to this one.

The beginning to this song gives me chills with the slow build up like in a movie when there is a suspense or anticipation to what comes next and then those beautiful strings come in. Trackmasters picked a great sample for this song.

The intro would've made this already great song even greater had it been used in the album. I think w/ the actual album's intro being before this song would've made the sequencing sound awkward (having an intro to a song directly after the album intro) so I understand why they cut it out.

It's because, in the album intro, you hear a black slave being beaten by a white man presumably 100-200 years ago - it then cuts to '96 where black people are not slaves - The Message begins "do you understand the rights I have given you?" To which Scarface replies "I know all that bs physcho babble save your breath". The fed asking the question is white - but it was never for white people to give others their rights. When you hear Scarface reject the fed, this can be interpreted as Nas' thoughts on the matter, the notion that rights are given by one person to another. A white person giving a black person their rights. "Do you understand the rights I HAVE GIVEN YOU?" "I know all that bs physcho babble save your breath".
