The beginning to this song gives me chills with the slow build up like in a movie when there is a suspense or anticipation to what comes next and then those beautiful strings come in. Trackmasters picked a great sample for this song.

It's because, in the album intro, you hear a black slave being beaten by a white man presumably 100-200 years ago - it then cuts to '96 where black people are not slaves - The Message begins "do you understand the rights I have given you?" To which Scarface replies "I know all that bs physcho babble save your breath". The fed asking the question is white - but it was never for white people to give others their rights. When you hear Scarface reject the fed, this can be interpreted as Nas' thoughts on the matter, the notion that rights are given by one person to another. A white person giving a black person their rights. "Do you understand the rights I HAVE GIVEN YOU?" "I know all that bs physcho babble save your breath".
