We're the Russos Yes indeed! I was 9yrs old when we went to the moon, and my dad would wake me up at 6am every morning to watch the live coverage by Jules Bergman, as the astronauts got closer & closer to the moon! Im so glad to have been alive during that most historic period in life!

Thanks for sharing this. It brought back memories from when a couple friends and I who worked at a TV station got a tour of Cape Canaveral during the Apollo era. Stood under the Saturn rocket on pad 39, went inside the lunar excursion module (LEM) training version for the astronauts, and inside the firing control room. So glad you had a similar experience. It has gotten so much more to see. Thanks again.

I must admit, my favorite videos are when you tour the museums, amusement parks, air shows, etc.. That to me is part of the RV (van) journey/experience. Very educational. Thank you. LOL, it was a fair trade-off. A 3-hour tour in exchange for a van tour, why not, haha :)

That is so much fun! We did a detail tour once as well. The original Command Center was in As Is condition and we could sit at the various stations. I fully understood why everyone had laptops at their positions near the end. They had DIAL telephones and pneumatic tubes for communications. And lots of space for huge ring binders that held all the information for the space vehicles. Well it was built in the 1960s. For those who want to go, for the regular people, you can buy a VIP tour, which pretty much gets you to see everything (takes half the day). It's not cheap, but it is worth it. Kennedy has an awesome VIP tour as well.

Ricky Arnold, the American astronaut at the space station and featured in your video is a family friend of my co-worker. She just got back from Russia after attending his launch to the space station. Ricky plays guitar and has played in an astronaut band in Houston. A few years ago, a canadian astronaut (also in the band at the time) was in the space station and recorded himself singing David Bowie's Ground Control (not sure that is the name of song but you must know it). Look it up on youtube, it's great.

OMGosh....how extraordinary was that! I drove right through Houston & never once thought of the space station....what a BIG mistake that was! Can just anyone have a tour, do they need to be scheduled, how far in advance to you have to schedule (is it is possible) & was this a "special tour" (only you 2) or can "other" get such a special tour? It amazes me that you can get a tour of the inside with all the mentally confused people that want to bomb everything! Thank you for taking us along today....awesome! LOL Judie

Definitely a place I will have to check out. I live here on the space coast and have been to Kennedy many times over my 44 Years. Miss the shuttle launches, especially the night ones; all which rattled your windows. Have rocket launches often but only watch a few of those. I enjoyed seeing the space station modules there at Johnson. Passed through once but next time will stop.

Hey, you guys were in my neighborhood. Back in the days when I was a photo assistant, I was helping a French photographer and everyone we met in Nasa spoke French, even were we went for lunch, sadly I was the only one that didn't. Also, one time we photograph the moon rock and had to protect the rock from contamination so we were covered in pink overalls from head to toe.

Dear WTR, I have been a studetn of the US Space Program for 50 years and even teach aspects of it in my grade 12 astronomy and AP Physics courses. To have a tour by a sitting flight director of Building 30 and brief access to an active flight control room is just an awesome priviledge. Did you have an inside track to get this type of tour? What was the price? Did you have to undertake any special security clearances? Any video/photo limitations? I noticed that some of the consoles in MOCR2 have been sent to Kansas for cleaning and refurbishment. That room is one of the most famous in the American space program. It must have been a priviledge to even walk in there. Thank you for sharing.

The real question is: how the hell does an espresso machine work in micro gravity? That is impressive engineering!
@LisaMarli6 жыл бұрын
Espresso works on steam pressure, no gravity required. You just need to shoot the coffee directly into the cup, not depend on gravity to drip it into the cup. I use to run an espresso machine.
@TomCooper6 жыл бұрын
LisaMarli the trick in microgravity isn't getting it into the cup, it is getting it to stay in the cup.
@LisaMarli6 жыл бұрын
Well, they cheat. It's all done inside a machine, that puts the finished espresso in a standard space station drink bag. They show it off here kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmqXnHyro5uihrM And searching Space Station Espresso gives you lots of videos including the astronauts enjoying a cup.
