Amazing performance from such a simple design & tiny motor... but as others have mentioned the water jet should exit above the water to provide optimum thrust... I look forward to an updated version of this... please include specs (like propeller size, pitch etc)... Thanks 4 a great video..!

some conservative critics, the jet pump need a nozzle to be a true jet, without the nozzle it’s just a propeller with shroud and drastically decrease efficiency, and the water jet has to be above water otherwise with lowered efficiency too

Choose an impeller, too. A jet works by putting water under pressure and then accelerating it through the nozzle. A 2 blade prop is not efficient in creating a pressure differential.

There are better types of water jet impellers for boats, although all of them would require much more machining which you may not be able to do. Cool build though, quick and easy without many tools.

You loose 30% power with jet dives. Your better off with straight prop. You need a bigger Hobby motor brushless I think it will perform better. Like on big drone.

force=mass x acceleration(f=ma). A jet drive boat must accelerate a mass of water into the air in order to "throw" it faster. Test this with a hose(running) and a bucket of water

F=MA. the force is directly proportional to how fast one can move the water. So sending the jet into the air is less resistive and allows for greater speed. test this with running hose in a full bucket of water by feeling the difference in force when in and out of water.
