Fight To The Top mode is the best career mode in any sports game ever. The game is worth the price for this mode alone, it also doesn't matter if you are a NASCAR fan or not, I wasn't a NASCAR fan when I first played this game and enjoyed FTTT mode so much I started keeping up with NASCAR before too long.

@@ratlov9983 It was made easier with the intimidate feature, but in general, just staying close getting on their ass to put pressure is the best way to get a competitive edge. If you can put the person ahead of you into a state of fear, they'll make bad decisions and eventually mess up, and you can take advantage of that. Its weird because it shouldn't work, the leading car should be confident knowing he's ahead, but if you can get into his head you can win the race

5:00 Honestly, this is a thing where I don't totally blame EA. I blame the consumers. Because part of the casual community doesn't want to spend time in the minors(talking about all sports) they instead ask the developer to make it so they can choose their team and start from the top. Some companies remained with the draft system(like MLB The Show) and some have an option to either choose your team or start from the one you choose(NHL) but most just force you to choose a team and go from there, eliminating that Fight To the Top mentality

NHL be a pro literally has the option to play an entire major junior career in the CHL to get drafted. Don’t comment on things you have no clue on please. // and what are you talking about anyway the newest NASCAR Heat games have you start in the lowest levels (still modified car) - people love RPG careers with progression.. in 2K you start of on the bench as a 60 overall.. idk what you are going on about in F1 you start off in F2 - people begged for this FOREVER. You need to place the consumer blame on ULTIMATE TEAM.. but it makes sense.

@@ayTesz I do know what I'm talking about. In the NHL part, I have a typo as you can see I meant you can either choose a team or go through the process you talked about. In F1 and NBA 2K you choose your team so there's no draft whatsoever. In Nascar Heat, yup it's one of the few games that has this process. A lot of people don't like this system anymore. I love it. Nascar Heat career mode is awesome, NHL is too and RTTS as well,but 2k, F1 and so on have career modes that have a good concept but you choose your team.

Just got into this game a little over a year ago. It's pretty awesome. I really like the Old Spice High Endurance Speedway road course and the Red Ball Speedway. I am not a fan of NASCAR and never really have been, but I do like racing games and this is a really fun game. I can never seem to win at the Superspeedways though.

This is was the second NASCAR game I ever had and got it when I was 10. It's been my favorite NASCAR game ever since. It's funny that Kurt Bush was your favorite driver when he still drove the #2 Miller Lite car because my favorite driver has always been Rusty Wallace, who you mentioned drove the Miller Lite car at the time of this game. Blue was my favorite color when I was a kid and was a big reason why I like his car, but I mainly liked him because he was my dad's favorite driver. Up until about 2 years ago when I re-bought the game I had completely forgot about his car having Rusty Wallace on it instead of Miller Lite.

I didn't play 05 but I do remember their career mode from whenever Tony Stewart was on the cover which was the same as this. Put so many hours into that game. Really gave you a sense of satisfaction when you moved up the ranks and the intimidator system was awesome. It really gave a fun feel especially when you'd make a rival and then suddenly you'd find your rival late in a race and it really got the adrenaline pumping because it always felt personal when they'd try to wreck you.

I never played Chase for The Cup, I played Thunder 2002 on PS1, and I had a lot of fun, but here in Brazil we didn't have a culture of playing Nascar games, only F1 games. But in 2007 my brother bought a copy of Nascar 08 for the PS2. I know that for you guys 08 wasn't good. But for me Nascar 08 was the best Nascar game I ever played, I will never forget playing a season on Nationwide through my career. I had a title battle between myself, Clint Bowyer and Kasey Kayne. I remember that on final races the battle was so intense that I was completely obsessed with the game. Then I raced in Texas and I was leading the race, when all of a sudden Kasey Kayne and I were side by side when he touched my car and my right rear tire blew up, then I lost the race, and at Homestead I did my best to win the Nationwide title, but Bowyer won the title by less than 10 points. I was upset, but amazed at how intense the game was. That's why I consider Nascar 08 on Ps2 was the best Nascar game I ever played. Another thing that I learned to love about EA Nascar games was the handling of cars on Superspeedway tracks, It was so nerve-racking but at the same time you could feel the control of your car perfectly. And I hated Eutechnix's Nascar games, It was too unstable to drive on Superspeedway tracks.

After EA Sports switched developers from Stormfront Studios (who did NASCAR 98, 99, 2000 and 2001) to Tiburon (beginning with Thunder 2002) the NASCAR games absolutely exploded. Thunder 2003, Thunder 2004 and NASCAR 2005: Chase For the Cup are (in my opinion) the pinnacle of the EA NASCAR series. There is a reason why "older people" like myself (28 years old at time of this comment) always refer to these older games because these were the games that, year after year, made massive improvements, constantly set and reset the bar, and defined what an "every mans NASCAR console racing game" SHOULD be. They were not diehard sims like NR2003 where you needed lots of track time and decent setups to be competitive, yet they didn't insult your intelligence either by being unrealistic and super easy. These games were easy enough for any person to grab a controller and run, yet difficult enough to be a challenge even when you did finally get a hold of the game's finer physics and details. Granted we don't see that "yet" with 704 Games and the NASCAR Heat series because 704 Games does not have the same "BIg Daddy EA Sports" dollars to throw at development. Remember that it DID take EA a few years and a production company switch to get things worked out well enough to where the games got undeniably great. NASCAR Heat 3 and NASCAR Heat 4 are making those same strides we saw in the early EA games. If you count the current series and compare it to EA, NASCAR Heat 4 is the "NASCAR 2001" in the EA timeline (for those that are superstitious). Time will tell of 704 can make that same NASCAR 2001 to NASCAR Thunder 2002 jump up to match (or even surpass) the bar those classic EA NASCAR games did. One can hope anyways

The game is solid for the most part but the handling model it's a bit twitchy because when I try to move the car it's just all over the place and it feels really twitchy and it seems like you cannot take control of the car so well which is sometimes very difficult to keep the car straight or possibly drive it and you're constantly drifting it it's annoying sometimes. EDIT 7/19/22: I got the PS2 and the handing is WAYY better then the GameCube version.
