Would be very interesting to see Shane compete in another NASCAR event and see if he can repeat his good performance. Being a street race in the rain, two things regular NASCAR drivers wouldn't have a ton of experience with, obviously he was going to be a strong contender seeing as V8's regularly race street courses, and in wet weather. Would be interesting to see how he goes at a speedway however. But he can certainly drive anything well.
@trainofthough0242

He'd get spanked on an oval because he'd be in the opposite situation where he is vastly inexperienced compared to the rest of the field. It's a whole different style of racing compared to anything else he's done before. He did great in Chicago because the whole event was practically tailor made to benefit him and his style of racing. Come next year, he won't have such an easy time now that the field has a year to study what he did and get faster for the next time. Going to be some much stiffer competition.

@@trainofthough0242yeah he goes alright in a sprint car.. drift car.. GT3 world championship in there too. Podium in a world rally championship Round last year in New Zealand. People study what he does but it doesn't help them best him. It's not just his mastery of brake throttle and steering, he has a high racing IQ and makes decisions that others wouldn't even think of. They had to change the rules in supercars because of his ability to use the grass to cool his rain tyres at 250kph during a wet race. He just thinks different hahahaha

@@futureshocked but the 250 can just be for the seats I feel like adding the taste to it does make it more Chicago oriented there’s also tons of great spots to watch the race for free while there. Standing right on Michigan ave you can see the track and cars going by without paying and the tourist are tasting all the foods of Chicago which could also give the taste the boost it needs as well by putting in front of more eyes with NASCAR. Nascar can swap out all the venders they had for the event with the taste venders, local businesses and I’m sure they would save money so it’s a win win for both parties. Considering most NASCAR regulars haven't driven in a street race before, or have only done so a couple of times, and that they very rarely run in wet conditions, obviously a three time champion in a series that races on multiple street circuits, and regularly runs in pouring rain, was going to be hard to beat. While Shane is a fantastic driver, he had the advantage compared to the NASCAR guys. It would be interesting to see him run at a speedway and see if he can replicate the results in a proper NASCAR race.

@NathanM4A1 Жыл бұрын
@@falleny8084 Yes, but it doesn't really matter how well you know the car, when you throw it into conditions that they've hardly ever raced on, it pretty much levels the field. F1 drivers know their cars better than an Indy driver. But put F1 on a speedway track, and I'd bet on the Indy driver any day of the week. Legendary drivers like Andretti, Stewart, Larson, and Foyt, have shown that a talented driver can jump into any race vehicle, and come to grips with it in a short amount of time. The real challenge is adapting to a totally different style of racing. When SVG drove a sprintcar for the first few times, he was getting lapped every race, and wasn't keeping up with the field. It took him several races to get up to speed. Because it was a totally different type of racing. Street racing, in the wet, with a beefy high horsepower car that handles like a tank is bread and butter to him, more so than it is to a NASCAR driver.

SVG played with him. Pushed him way off line to dirty up his tires, and let him sail right by. Thats race craft, and a schooling.

As an Australian I thought when I saw the start how great Marcus Ambrose would have been in these conditions. When I saw SVG moving up I thought he'd find the conditions much easier to handle than all the other NASCAR guys because they just don't get these sorts of races. We get these sorts of conditions all the time where the track is wet and dries out. Plus there's a lot of bitumen to concrete changes on this course and that makes a wet to dry transition even harder. He also races in Europe a lot so driving a Left Hand Car is nothing new to him. And so you know SVG is actually a New Zealander like Scott Dixon the Indy car driver.

The "yanks" have been turning right for at least two races a year for NASCAR's entire history and road courses have become a semi-frequent fixture on the schedule since the turn of the decade. This isn't a "turn left" series anymore.

@@rebelcheese5301 Yup, the NASCAR schedule now features six road/street courses, and it's only going to get more. Turning right, while not the staple, is nothing new to NASCAR.

V8SC is everything we want NASCAR to be. The way the cars drive, brake, and corner is amazing. So to put a Kiwi in a NASCAR and take the pack to school is no surprise. V8SC came to Chicago and turned the NASCAR world upside down. Although it's right side up for SVG now.
