Mhm: the latter kinda foreshadows Clint Bowyer coming across the line on _his_ roof some years later in the 2007 Daytona 500 (if Murphy actually finished: seems like his car came to a stop before crossing the line though, so that would be a DNF).

Herbie might be the most well-rounded race car of all time. Winner of numerous local races, a prestigious race at Riverside, the Monterey Grand Prix, the 2 day El Dorado Road Race, the Trans-France Race (basically Ralleye Monte-Carlo) in which he makes his final overtake on the roof of the Monaco tunnel, a junk car race, a NASCAR Cup race and a bull fight. Since the 2020 NBA bubble in Disney World, where the Lakers won, it became a term in ALL of sports, meaning a win that is undeserved, whether that be due to cheating, or injuries keeping out star players, or just a lack of competition. So technically, on the internet at least, it is actual terminology. In actual sports news, not so much.

This is a dumb fun continuation of the Team Peyton Team from Herbie Fully Loaded Nascar Movie After Herbie was banned from the Sport, Maggie Peyton has to use an actual approved stock car. For the 2006 Season Team Peyton switched to Dodge getting cars from Gannasi & they moved full-time to the busch series fielding the 56 Dodge for Maggie. Bass Pro Shops decided to leave the team to sponsor Martin Truex Jr & DEI full-time in cup. Advanced Auto Parts signed on to sponsor the 56 Dodge for 20 of the Busch Series Races. Havoline sponsored 5 of the Busch Races and Wrigley's Gum sponsored the other 10 Races. Maggie's results in the Busch series was 0 wins, 0 Top 5's & 1 Top 10 at Talledega, 4 DNF's, an average finish of 22.6 & 25th in points. Maggie also attempted 6 Cup Races with the BAM Racing, successfully qualifying for each Race, Advanced Auto Parts sponsored each race. Her Cup series results were 0 wins, 0 Top 5's, 0 Top 10's, 1 DNF, an average finish of 26.8 & 38th in points. 2007 was an improvement, she once again ran full-time in the Busch Series, Her 2007 Busch results are 2 Top 5's, 6 Top 10's & a average finish of 14.7, she would led 58 laps in the Carquest 300 at Charlotte and getting her best Busch finish of 3rd, she would led 405 laps in total in Busch. Maggie also attempted the full Cup schedule attempting 20 Cup Races in the 49 Dodge for BAM Racing, 8 Races in the 37 Dodge for Front Row Motorsports & 8 Races in the 39 Dodge for Chip Gannasi Racing she would get Top 5's Racing for Gannasi at Talledega & Charlotte, top 10's at the Daytona 500 & Michigan in June. At Michigan was her best overall race as she got her 1st pole, then would led the first 10 laps before falling back to 13th. She would led 20 more laps in the race afterwards and ended up finishing 6th place. Her average finish was 23.4 & she finished 27th in points. Maggie would fail to Qualify for the Daytona 500 & 3 other races in the 37 Dodge and then she fail to qualify 4 times in the BAM 49. Maggie moved to only full-time in Cup in 2008 driving the 56 Dodge for Team Peyton with Her Pole at Michigan qualifying her for the 2008 Bud shootout were she drew 24th place as her starting position & finished 16th. Team Peyton entered a #59 Dodge in the 500 with Terry Labonte as the driver, 1st time they entered more than 1 car. After his 11th place finish in the 500, Labonte ran the first 5 races in the 59 Dodge to try an get into the top 35. Gannasi Busch driver Kyle Krisiloff would drive the next 6 races in the 59 Dodge and would crash in 4 of those races, dropping the car out of the Top 35. In the first 11 Races of the 2008 Season Maggie would get 3 top 10's in the 500, Bristol & Darlington, she was 14th in points after Darlington & had an average finish of 14.6 at that point. But 5 days after the 2008 southern 500, Maggie found out she was pregnant & obviously had to step out of the car. Ken Schrader took over as the driver of the 56 Dodge & Terry Labonte return to the 59 Dodge for the next 18 races. AJ Allmendinger drove the 59 Dodge at the fall Talladega race & the Bank of America 500 before he moved to Evernham. Labonte return for the final 7 Races in the 59. Neither Allmendinger, Schrader or Labonte would win a race for Team Peyton, but AJ would get 4th in the Bank of America 500. For the 2009 Season Team Peyton took all the Dodges & the 41 team from Gannasi after they merged with DEI. Former Gannasi driver Bryan Clauson ran full-time in the 56 Dodge & for rookie of the year. Patrick Carpentier ran full-time in the 59 Dodge, Terry Maggie would have her daughter in February and then returned to the cup series at the Aaron's 499 in the 37 Dodge for Front Row Motorsports with help from Team Peyton. Maggie would run 10 Total Races for Front Row Motorsports in the 37 Dodge & 5 Races for Phoenix Racing in the 09 Dodge with Team Peyton giving assistance for all races. Advanced Auto Parts & Coca Cola sponsored Maggie's races in the 37, but Phoenix sponsor Miccosukee Gaming was on the 09. For the 2010 Season Bryan Clauson left the team after a stuggle season, so Maggie returned to the 58 Dodge which was renumbered from the 56 as Peyton gave that to MWR., Carpentier returned to the 59 Dodge & Labonte drove the new 60 Dodge. Maggie would get the pole for the Atlanta race, she would lead the first 40 laps of the race before getting passed by Jimmie Johnson. Maggie would finish 4th in the race, her 2010 results were 5 Top 5's, 10 Top 10's, she missed the Chase by 10 points, she finished 13th, Carpentier finished 15th in points and Labonte finished 17th in points. For 2011 Team Peyton went down to only 2 full-time Dodges the 58 with Maggie & the 59 with Patrick Carpentier. Labotne scaled back his schedule retired so the 60 was only a part-time car. The 60 car made its first appearance at Sonoma with Scott Speed, Speed would also run at Watkins Glen. Maggie would finish 15th in points & Carpentier 16th. For 2012 only the 58 Dodge Ran Full-Time with the 60 Dodge running Part-Time, Sam Hornish Jr ran the first 3 races & the coke 600 in the car. For the final 9 Races AJ Allmendinger drove the 60 Dodge. Maggie would get her 2nd Cup Win at talladega and would make the Chase for the first time finishing 11th in points. In 2013 Team Peyton shut down because of Dodge leaving Nascar & the other three manufacturers wouldn't give them a good manufacturer deal. Maggie would still have support from Advanced Auto Parts & Coca Cola, she would put together deals to run 20 Races for Phoenix Racing in the 51 Car, she ran 10 Races for Penske in the 12 car & she ran 6 Races for Roush Fenway in the 6 Car. Maggie would get her 3rd win at Michigan in the 12 car for Penske, she would finish 14th in points. In 2014 Maggie would run 12 Races in the 12 for Penske, 10 Races the 6 for Roush, she would run 14 Races for Humphrey Racing in the 77. She would win her 4th Cup Races at Daytona in the summer, qualifying her for the Playoffs. She would finish 14th in points. In 2015 Maggie would run 5 Races in the Penske 12, 10 races in the Roush 99 & she would bring back Team Peyton fielding the 60 Ford for herself for 21 Races. Maggie would get her 5th Cup Win this coming at Kentucky, she made the playoffs and finished 13th in points. In 2016 She attempted the full schedule driving for herself in the 60 Ford, she didn't win a race, but made the playoffs, finishing 16th in points. In 2017 Maggie had another child and didn't run anymore races to focus on parenthood.

I have seen this movie Herbie several times! 03:56 fun fact: That scene was deleted, was from the entire short track Nascar Race scene and pit crew at California Speedway (now Auto Club Speedway). (RIP Benny Parsons)

Can I say Jeff Gordon should've really won this race, went from spinning out in the last moments before the finish line, to composing himself and WILLING that car back to 180mph to finish second within like, 300 feet of the finish? Dude brought back the 90's Wonderboy in one move.

i think there was another problem which gets overlooked. you have drivers in arca, trucks, busch, busting their asses trying to get a ride in cup, showing/wanting to show what they can do in a competitive car. and then you have this woman, who didn't even began close to racing until weeks before this race, and then gets a ride in the cup series! maggie got a ride in cup just because she was the brother of ray jr., who was there just because he was a payton. if that's not the biggest example of nepotism, then i don't know what it's. sorry for the rant, i had to take this off my chest.

Most underrated NASCAR film in history in my opinion (& least remembered for that matter): you always see people talking about Talladega Nights or Days Of Thunder, which are all well & good, but let's not forget good old number 53 either shall we? I like the fact that you described it as if it was an actual race, which I guess it technically _was._ Nice video! No joke: if I was the head of NASCAR & one of the teams brought a race-ready Herbie for approval, I'd approve him for competition, no questions asked (which for all we know might have been what NASCAR did here: just said "Screw it, let's approve him, what's the worst that could happen?").

Darn right: all you ever see people talking about are Talladega Nights & Days Of Thunder: what about the other two NASCAR masterpieces created around the same time frames as those two, Steel Chariots & Herbie: Fully Loaded? (well, _sorta_ masterpieces anyway) And if you're talking about Herbie in general, yeah: he really _is_ forgotten nowdays, which is _really_ sad.

Can we just appreciate the fact that the producers of this movie ACTUALLY MADE a VW Beetle into a NASCAR spec cup car (they kinda had to since they were filming the movie during the Pop Secret 300 of that year. If you find a clip of the race you'll actually see a pit box sign of a white circle with 53 on it) How I know this? The NASCAR Herbie went to Barrett Jackson a few years ago

At least Herbie was a car with a driver. IndyCar let that that snail Theo (AKA "Turbo") race without a vehicle. I'm pretty sure it was way out of bounds to allow that, even if legendary five time Indy 500 champ Guy Gagné said it was OK.
