The Michael Waltrip one was the 2009 Southern 500. That was my first cup race and his engine let go right in front of me on the back stretch (we were in the first row). That heat that came off of the car in that instant was the most intense heat I’ve ever felt! Couldn’t imagine how it felt inside the car.

Sublimation of a 'rocket fuel'. Vacuum supplies more fuel, so under caution they have to full bias the rear brakes and gear down. Consequences include broken suspension components, axles, pinions. There was video from the left rear, but it shows the rear brakes glowing, and the left rear tire can be seen shifting forward in the wheel well. Intentionally brought to you by 'restricter plate racing'.

I'll still never understand the shoe on the track incident. If you play it back in slow motion the shoe literally disappears into thin air when her front bumper gets close to it. The lip of the bumper doesn't buckle or fold but for how low it is you'd expect it to do so especially at those speeds. I've played this back multiple times in the past still can't seem to believe this was real.
