Damn dropping the ball here NASCAR this race aired in HD. Benny Parsons’ last race before his death. Also Turner Sports’ last time producing a race on NBC. They would henceforth only be on TNT itself, and replace BP with Kyle Petty, who had been doing Busch races for TNT and who BP had first helped get into broadcasting at ESPN in the late 90s

Benny did broadcasting full time in 1989. Did ESPN races off and on during the '80s after his last full seasons in 1987 and 1988. Pretty sad to learn he passed away in January of '07 and the 2007 season hadn't even gotten off the ground yet. I learned about it in computer class during my junior year in high school, it was pretty sad learning about it. Broadcasting just wasn't the same since.

@@Baxternator88 I was a Hendrick Motorsports fan from the very beginning and I'm still a fan to this day no matter who will take over Jimmie Johnson's ride but the true Nascar legend is the King Richard Petty 200 wins 7 championships along being tied with 7 championships with Dale Earnhardt also know as the Intimidator and Jimmie Johnson

Aly Osman it must be for sure because any aspect ratio that was intentionally to be seen must be viewed that way. I was so happy that NASCAR gave us a 16:9 2005 Daytona 500, now it’s this race that must be shown in widescreen!

Aly Osman no we need our own NASCAR stream channel where we subscribe and wacth classic show anytime and anywhere. Like WWE does and many other does that be best. But I thank NASCAR doing this anyway. But yeah that be great to also have audio of driver in past I know they can do it and we would love it.

Josh Jarnagin TBH, if I was working for that company or NBC, I would absolutely go find that 16:9 footage & send that to NASCAR. Every NASCAR race has been in 16:9 since Homestead in 2004, the first widescreen race was the 2003 Daytona 500.

Devin C It’s not so much that, NASCAR can do a much better than this & they proved it with the 2005 Daytona 500. It’s always a disappointment when a race like this exists in 16:9 but instead show it in 4:3. It sucks because I know they can do a much better job than this.

@@anthonydeloreto3881 I assume it is based on whatever copy of the race they can obtain a license to republish for free on a site like KZbin. While it is their sanctioned race, the broadcast and screen graphics do belong to the broadcaster, even if they aren't contracted with NASCAR anymore.
