If I already belong to a group, and then the group becomes part of a community, can I actually delete the group from my list and only have it in the community section? Or will it disappear completely if I do so?

How do I create a group where people can write but only I can see them. They can't see other people's messages.

It only allows for the addition of 4 previously existing groups, but you can create more if need be.

can whatsapp community admins hide their phone numbers from the members. I don't want my phone number to be available to thousands of people and whatsapp would not let me create a separate account with Google Voice

You can't convert a community to a group, but you can create a group within that community and then add all the community members to that group. Once you have done this, you can remove the group from the community if you wish to. But I don't know why you would do that. The community is designed to contain several groups and it allows admins to make announcements to all the groups within it.
