Scott Flansburg does a great job in promoting math. He uses Vedic Mathematics/ Trachtenburg methods, but does not mention them in his book. Scott had one notable time he competed in Math back in 2004. He placed last in the 2004 Mental Calculation World Cup. There isn't any other information if Scott competed any other time aside from 2004.

Nothing but praise for this man, I am a lot faster at three and two digit arithmetic now when it comes to addition and subtraction. His method of counting from 0-9 instead of 1-10 and calculating ones place mathematics from left to right is genius. Edit - I wonder if schools. are trying to brainwash children into thinking 0 isn't an important, time-saving value when doing numerical equations by saying its only a placeholder and the only time you come across it is in the 10s and beyond. Honestly, nothing makes me rejoice more than spotting a 0 when adding 10.57e6 + 3.42e4 (10570000 + 34200)
