Well thanks buddy, I was getting frustrated because I just formatted and installed win 10 on the harddrive on another laptop and when I put it in the sony ,it was saying that there’s not an operating system and it was this easy.Thank you brother ❤️

I didnt go through all the steps because it did something different but I restarted and then pressed the ASSIST button while it was starting up. It worked!

Turn the power on, and press F2 or F12 key to take you into the BIOS. Press right arrow to highlight "Boot" in menu. Select the DVD/RW drive, following the instructions in the side panel, and move it to position (1) as the preferred drive to boot from. Save and Exit. Put Windows installation disc in drive, turn off laptop, then turn it on. It should now reboot from your DVD/RW drive. Select "repair" NOT "install" option. If that does not work, try the other options available on the list.

i have a sony vaio laptop cw series icore5 windows 10 (upgraded from w7 to w10 2 years ago). bought it march of 2010. yesterday i encountered "Operating system not found". this is the 3rd time i encountered this "phenomena" and each time all i did to correct the problem was UNPLUG THE POWER CORD FROM THE WALL OUTLET THEN REMOVE THE BATTERY. WAIT FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN PLACE BACK THE BATTERY THEN PLUG THE CORD TO THE WALL OUTLET THEN TURN ON THE LAPTOP LIKE I NORMALLY DID. THEN IT SAYS PRESS ANY KEY TO SKIP SCANNING .DURING MY FIRST EXPERIENCE, I TRIED TO NOT PRESS ANY KEY BUT THE SCANNING TOOK TOO LONG TO FINISH, ABOUT 5 HOURS, SO DURING MY 2ND EXPERIENCE I PREFER TO SKIP THE SCANNING AND ONCE INSIDE THE WINDOW I DID chkdsk /f. the scanning took only a few minutes where it says it fixed the problem. by the way, using "/F" only takes minutes and using "/R" takes hours..
