I think one of the answers to your question is Belgium by comparison to most is pretty much unchartered territory, everybody goes to France, but as you proved Belgium has some special ones in unspoilt special places, some stunning fish! I'm from Belgium and I have a couplr of questions, how are you nightfishing on a public lake? There are a couple exceptions but night fishing is only allowed on channels and rivers (basically where there are boats). Also how is it free? A normal license is about 17 euros (no nightfishing allowed anywhere then) or 48 euros to fish nights on the previously said channels and rivers. I hope you were just lucky no cops or forestguards came along to give you massive fine or worse impound your gear. And even if your rods are out at night you can't camp on those lakes either. Also maximum of 2 rods a person in the water at all time. Otherwise definitly a great video.

In England we consider anywhere that only requires a licence (and not a club or syndicate membership) "free". Also this lake is one of the exceptions that you can night fish.

Beware over competitive carp fishing mates. I fished with my ex friend for over 30 years. Increasingly he couldn't cope if you caught more or even if it looked like I was gonna catch. I've since caught him stamping up n down in my plot to spook carp I'd located. He even made his dog stampede a herd of bullocks thro my swim. Honestly, uncouldn't make this shxx up! I no longer speak to the weirdo. Good film by the way 👌
