First step put down a blanket.. That's where the cicadas come from! They come from the ground.

@@definitelyarealturtle242many come from the ground but many also live in tree bark. I think depending on what species it is, it takes either 7 years or 13 years for cicadas to emerge from their burrow. They are super cool. Especially when you find one of their shells!

Caution: cicadas attract snakes. The snakes wait under the trees to eat the cicadas when they fall.

That’s actually really good info since I have a dog. Thank you!

But cicadas come up from the ground. They start in the leaves, then the leaves drop and they go into the ground for years until it's their time to emerge.

Yes, I am originally from Nashville but currently live an hour north in Bowling Green where I hardly see any. But when I go home, WOW! It's bad just an hour south of here! Who would think it would be that different so close to y'all?

Just needs one of those small rain covers for tents used to block rain. They are good for sun

We have so many cicadas in Missouri, too. Good idea for anyone who wants to have a tent to sit outside.

They must have a specific path through Nashville because I am right outside Knoxville, TN near Kingston, TN and I have seen zero cicadas. I have heard none of their beautiful summer songs. Which is so odd considering it was supposed to be the most ever this year.

I mean if you wanted to avoid them you could walk inside (maybe you like the noise). If your actually interested in Cicadas then wait another 13 years. Go into a forested area and try and catch a blue eyed Cicada.
