I like this! Death in Baker Holler/stringbean. I remember all this. I was a teenager back then. But justice was NOT served as John Brown was paroled after serving only 40 years of a 198 year sentence. He confessed to both killings. Yes, he pulled the trigger. He shot Estelle in the back of her head while she was on her knees begging for mercy. She got no mercy. Why the Tennessee parole board set him free when he was no better than Charles Manson, I fail to understand. He said he was sorry yet string and Estelle are still dead. He should have never been paroled. Shame on you, parole board. I no longer have respect for the justice system.

@@pameaves3170 John is still alive in Nashville and owns a motor repair shop I think, Doug died in prison, Charlie was the ring leader and got off. Tom Shriver, the DA at the time and that unfortunate "deal" with him.

String & Estelle are still greatly missed. They were truly kind, gentle, beautiful people. They got NO justice. You say justice was servered. NO it was not. The Akemans got no justice.

We can’t bring people back from the dead. Justice is how we pick up the pieces. That being said, given the cold blooded nature of the murder, I don’t think they should have gotten paroled

My Aunt June Stearns was a good friends with String Bean. She was also in the Roy Acuff band and is in the Country music Hall of Fame. She had a few albums and duet albums with Lefty Frizelle anf Johnny Duncan. Married life and motherhood peevented her from furthering her career. June was most known as a Honky Tonk singer. She was very sad and remains so regarding String Beans passing.

Apparently, the last remaining source of photos of both bodies since America doesn't like to understand crime (which is the only way to address it). Appreciate this getting posted.

You are more correct, in my opinion, than we will ever know. The only ones who know are those who study. And, a good defense attorney will. From a judicial standpoint, I admit, I have listened to these, reminding myself how great a tool these videos would be. Not to mention a huge help to a defense attorney, with a goal of mis-trial , hung jury or NOT GUILTY!!!

I really appreciate the police detectives and prosecutors in this case. Criminal defense attorneys are the scum of the earth! How would you like to make money putting killers, rapists and all sorts of horrible people back on the streets. I don't know how they live with themselves. But I guess one day God, the REAL Judge, will deal with their despicable behavior. It's so very sad about Stringbean and Estelle, even all these years later. I went to church with a lady who was String's cousin. What kind of parole board would let this guy go free???? It just is so WRONG!!!

Our Justice system is left to human fallibility. Their murderers - as we all - will stand before God one day to account for our choices and actions in this life. It is some solace to know that man’s capacity for evil is only matched by his capacity for good. It is a matter of our God-given Free Will to choose between good and evil in this life. God is the ultimate Judge and each of us can only strive to choose good, as our very souls depend on it.
