Just got back from Nassau. Use the Jitney(bus) to get around. It's 1.25 per person. I never waited longer than 15 minutes. The best part is you don't have to find a bus stop. Put your hand up and they will stop anywhere to pick you up. Ask the driver if the bus will go to your destination. The driver's are helpful.

I’m in Nassau now. Just came from Starbucks on Bay Street and Cosmetics Boutique. Diamonds International is cool. The driving is crazy here in the Bahamas. Walking across the street w/o traffic lights is weird here. The beach and Bahama Grill the best!

As far as food, what about dining for people with food allergies; specifically, shellfish, sesame, dairy, red meat (beef, pork, other mammals), kiwi? Are there any vegan, vegetarian, or pollotarian-friendly restaurants?

Love this video! One thing that I learned and wanted to share with you is to look for a duffle bag that best fits your luggage and has all the wonderful features a bag can have especially in plane travel use. I'm using Nomad Lane's Bento Bag and it's a good choice!

We will be sailing on The Wish Cruise Line. Are there vendors selling their :wares" (ie jewelery,clothing,etc) at the Ports and/or beaches? Is bartering accepted at the shops? Is the listed price for something (ie braclet) typically set by vendor to be negotiated? What is the average price for a bottle of water and/or Diet Coke? We are Canadian and we are sailing from Flordia in April 2023 and it will be our first stop in Nassau. I'm still in shock that I'm going It's just the 3 girls going my sister,nice and myself. A little anxious of being over charges,vendors taking advantage of someone with little experience. Plus this is my first cruisen While in Mexico we had it down to a fine art...never left resort at night, resort always recorded the cab you left in and as well returned in,agent to book excursions etc. Would to see a few shops with local goods for sale,not stuff we can get at the dollar store back home.

Bahamas Air not Bahamian Air. Jankanoo no Junkanoo!!! The water is a bit brackish in Nassau but other island have fresh water to compare anywhere in the world. Nassau is NOT the Bahamas, it's 1 island and 1 experience. Try family Islands and see that these two know NOTHING about The Bahamas. We should sue you for misrepresentation.

Should I get a car rental going there
@FredDeckerNC2 жыл бұрын
No. There is no need for a car on the island, and with traffic on bay street, parking issues, narrow roads, and driving on the left side of the road with multiple roundabouts if you are not used to them, it is a stressful and dangerous option for tourists. Cabs are expensive, but have published rates online from point to point and by the 1/4 mile. You can often negotiate. For example, from the Airport to downtown is $30-$32 for 2 people plus tip. Cabs are based on 2 people, so add $4 per person. They also charge for bags which I never pay since I always negotiate a flat rate up front. For example, on one trip from the Airport I negotiate $30 for 4 people. On another, $36. And all of have bags. Oh, and one trip was a luxury SUV :). NEVER pay the $90, or $75 they try to start with. There are also shuttles from some of the hotels. And do not be afraid of the Buses (Jitneys). They don't go to the airport, but you could walk a ways to a bus stop. But they are great for getting around the island. You only have to know a couple of bus routes, ask for help there. From downtown west towards Cable, Saunders, and even Love beaches and back, use the number 10. To go from downtown to the Sidney Poitier bridge is the 1 or 7. Fare is only $1.25 per person, so for $5 two people can go from downtown to Cable beach and back. If you are a good walker (and beat the heat of the day), you can walk all the way from the cruise port or even the Margaritaville Resort, to the bridge and over, and walk around Paradise Island. Otherwise, take the Jitney to the base of either bridge (I recommend the first, western one because it has a protective wall between the sidewalk and the road) and make the less than 850m jaunt (about half a mile) including from where the bus can drop you near Malcolm's Park to the other side with a short 10 minute walk. If you stay on a resort in Cable Beach or Paradise Island, there is a free shuttle around each area since the complexes are quite large.

Great tips, thank you, Fred!
