Being a 3 time Dakar Rally Champion and 5 time world champion of Cross Country Rallies, this legend’s skills in off-road racing speak for themselves. i hope we can see longer videos from the event ,beause its crazy how this is the biggest motorsport event in the world ! and we watch 5 min car clips from everyday of the race...its crazy short. i can only watch it here in youtube . Its crazy how they have all this helicopters and we see only 10-15 min videos from every race day... when i was a kid i watch like 1h videos of dakar ...you can see the old videos in youtube ...Man that desert got me as kid ...i am soo keen on dakar ...biggest adventure in the motorsportworld!

So true, awesome race but absolutely crap coverage. The amount each competitor pays in entry fees is shocking and the sponsors those competitors work so hard to get have next to no air time. Red bull is better than Dakar but only follow Its own sponsored competitors.

@@craigdavies8099 agree. When I lived in Germany in the mid 1990s, Dakar coverage was awesome. It alone made purchasing a satellite receiver worth it. In the US, motorsports are targeted to the lowest common denominator. We have crap cars, and crap coverage as a result.

In France it's a little better because the public television group have a full crew and a stage every night with some guest , but it's shorter every year... seem that in the past 90-20's quality of the content was way better and longer

By crap cars, I mean very few "aspirational" cars that a middle class person can pine for. Cars in the US either have too much power for the (overweight) chassis, or are mostly show with no go.

OMG Exactly!!! I am so annoyed that the coverage is so little!! How is this possible? I don't understand why we can't have access to raw footage, it's fine without comments or music. I would definitely pay for it. They have helicopters, but can't there be drones out there following cars for a bit? This is the best race on earth and so little is being shared :((((

Really does seem like a nice guy with a real love of the sport. Being a Toyota and Giniel de Villiers fan I wish them all the luck. Pity about the tie up with Red Bull. I no longer have any faith in that crowd. Still maybe the Dakar team are more honest and ethical than their F1 counterparts.

I lost respect when Robby Gordon shows up and proves to be faster they change the rules.. doesn't matter which vehicle he brings, utv ( speed limiter) ,gordini ( can't remember) hummer ( everything like, intake size, rapid deflate system, engine size, ect..) ... they change the rules to limit what RGM came up with. If you weren't paying the FIM then you don't get to win.. such a cool race, shit organization running it.

Rule changes to help the Local boy win. The FIA is Clueless in setting rules in every category. F1, WEC, XCOUNTRY. What was supposed to make the buggies equal to the AWD has now been removed. More power to turbopetrol engine, wider track, bigger wheels. These toyotas will fly over the dunes.
