I’ve absolutely loved the Muslim and Pakistani representation in this show, it’s been fantastic. As an Anglo-Canadian guy who isn’t religious I’ve absolutely loved experiencing celebrations I never knew existed and the beauty of Pakistani weddings. The comic book aesthetic of the editing is always a joy to watch and Kamala may be the most endearing character we’ve seen in the MCU in quite some time (arguably ever). This show just rules. I wish it was longer

I agree 100% Kamala is rapidly becoming my favorite superhero too!! I'm much older, white, male, raised christian...basically not a lot in common on the surface. But she's a dreamer and represents that story we all wanted for ourselves growing up. AND, she's the most likable person in the MCU to top it off. I can't wait for more Ms Marvel!!

She is wonderfully wholesome and positive. I’m Canadian and an atheist, and I love her so much. I also love that her family and imam give her the guidance she needs to be a good hero. That line about choosing to live in love or fear is so poignant. I love it.

I'm not Muslim, but when the Damage Control agents entered the mosque with their shoes on, I got annoyed for real. I was like "You disrespectful sons of bitches..." lol Also question: I have been interested in Islam for a long time and this show has reaffirmed my desire to learn more about it. I was thinking about visiting a mosque and having a chat with some people there, just to get some real world perspective. Would they be accepting of a white guy like me coming to visit? I would of course be respectful.

I think one of the nice touches in this episodes is her conversations with her mother and her brother talking with their father. It's subtle but when her parents talk to her they disagree. Like "I don't trust you" vs "we trust you" or "you can be anything" vs "almost anything". We've also had Kamala say they treat her differently to her brother. But in this episode when she wants advice and her brother wants advice their parents tell them the same thing. It's not just reaffirming how much they love both of their children but shows their shared values. These are two people who are together because they agree about what's important and who both want to understand their children's struggles. Doesn't mean they'll always agree on every topic in the exact same way or that they won't make mistakes with their kids but are going to keep trying and keep working together.

You caught the 10 Rings logo when I didn't on first watch, nicely done! Theories are that now the 10 rings and the bangle may be ancient Cree (blue colored skin) technology from before Captain Marvel's time with them. Which would be why she didn't recognize the tech in the 10 rings. Looks like you talked right over the Dr. Selvick reference Bruno mentioned about inter-dimensional travel. Dr. Selvick from most the Thor set of movies. The front of the train said KARACHI on it.

i really liked that karachi written on the train but nani call scene, i did not see that coming and what makes me more excited about next two episodes is that they were directed by Pakistani director (Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy) she directed the pakistan's first animated movie and next episode is also set in Karachi so I have no doubt that it will be great

I love the multifaceted writing of the parents. The mother came off as too strict and traditional at first, but now we see why she is that way, and that she is, despite those flaws that might stifle Kamala's development, a loving and caring mother. As for Djinn: They are as real as demons: Not at all. ;) Just saying.

I have to say, as a white guy in his 20s, I was always going to watch this show because it's Marvel, but I have been blown away by how much I've loved it. We get so little representation of Muslim and Pakistani culture, let alone in a positive light, so I've really enjoyed the insights its given. I loveeeee this show and it's the highlight of my week and I'm so glad Iman is now in the MCU. And to the nakia point you made, I think kamala was going to tell her when she came to her room, but then she started going off about the DODC and how night light doesn't seem to care, and that might've scared her off, but she definitely deserved to know. Love this show and love your reactions!

She didn't actually tell Bruno about her powers. Bruno watched it happen. As for the action scene, there didn't seem to be enough of a work up to earn it IMO. It may be due to time constraints in the episode but it would have been nice to see some sort of progression in their relationship to get to that point.

Love seeing you gush about this series, man. It's a very feegood show and honestly having the perspectives of muslims enriches the experience. I don't personally think the contrast between Bruno and Kamran is that much in Bruno's favor though. Yeah, he's loving and ernest, but he's also passive-aggressive and jealous. He's got growing up to do. Kamran has been raised to be a weapon and I think him betraying his family to do the right thing is more than I expected from a young man in his position. It's also fascinating that I've not met a muslima who's Team Bruno. They all seem convinced that a white non-muslim boy would never work as a love interest for Kamala.

I didn't see the 10 rings symbols on the floor until I watched the New Rockstars easter egg breakdown video. In the comics, Kamala was an inhuman who were was hit with terraforming mist ( like on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) because of the experiments the Kree were involved in. The blue aliens, like Ronan, were once experimented on by the Celestials, like many worlds, including earth, and then long after was trying to do the same with different beings from different worlds, and was then using said inhumans for their mission to take over the galaxy. But also, there was easter egg references to the Clandestine who was started by an inhuman(I can't remember) or just human named Adam, who fell in love and created a family with a Djinn woman who was blue. I am thinking they may be trying to make them one and the same, only because we know the Secret INVASION is coming and the war of Kree v Skrulls. This may be the gateway into Kamala making it into space with Carol and Monica for The Marvels movie. I recently watched a reaction video from these Pakistani twin girls. They made predictions on what type of negative narration the show was going in. One of the complaints is that whenever they have a movie about the culture they always have to make the main character with a white guy. Never a handsome " brown boy" as they put it. They weren't too gongho for it. So, I don't know if Bruno will be in the running if that is a concern put out there for a percentage of people from the culture. There are writers and production/crew teams that are getting things right, so Idk if Bruno is in there like Kamran. He may just have to be her bestie. Her being too naive and not listening to warnings about that family really irritated me. She has got to have some level of better judgment. I didn't trust Kamran's mom because her smile never reached her eyes when she met Kamala.

Love watch this show and how it put your religion in a positive light. Know well the feeling of your religion casted in an unflattering light. I'm a practicing Wiccan. Witches are usually shown as evil or Satanist. We like most religions believe in evil. We see God inclined evil in our world so we could learn what is good. We see God as all the energy in the universe, that makes us all part of God. The special beings of energy you mentioned seem to be recorded in all religions. I loved seeing the service within the Mosque as well as the wedding. It shows the beauty of your religion. It's too bad a few in all religions spread fear and hate, as we are all part of God. People are too caught up in what race they are. But the true is that there is only one race, the human race. ( that is until ET shows up). Be well my friend and bright Blessings to you and yours.

Every time I watch this show, I just have a grin on my face the whole time. I love seeing your culture portrayed in a positive light, and seeing the day-to-day experience. I'm agnostic, but I grew up Catholic and like seeing the more wholesome elements of religion being portrayed. I was never that involved in the church, but it was nice seeing a more progressive view of catholicism in DareDevil. So I an only imagine how it is seeing this after years of movie villains being "middle-eastern terrorists." And with the ten rings symbol being present, I hope that they give Obadiah's BS "Ten Rings" false flag group an extra dose of suck it.

You mentioned that Kamala already told Bruno, so why didn't she also tell her best friend. I think that she didn't want to share it with anyone, really. At least not right away. Bruno literally watched as Kamala's powers manifested for the first time at the Avengercon event. She really didn't have a choice about letting Bruno know.

that group the "Clandestines" or "Djinn" might be from a sub-group of half-Kree half-human's that went to live in the "Noor Realm" (pocket dimension like Ta-Lo in "Shang Chi); but that small group of exiled "Djinn" might of been kicked out for something... perhaps for some crime they committed..

Don't be too hard on her for not telling Nakia sooner. She tried, but was interrupted by Nakia complaining about the DODC trying to search the mosque (so obviously that would be a difficult time to say it). And she didn't tell Bruno - he was there when she discovered her powers, so he didn't need to be told. Loved your video! Keep it up.

When I saw this episode I started swearing at the screen when the DC Agents entered the mosque without removing their shoes and cheered when the Imam tells her to remove her shoes next time.

Kamala didn't tell Bruno about the bangle and it's power, he was at Avenger-Con and saw everything. Unlike Nakia.

The biggest reason Bruno knew about Kamala’s powers was he was there when they manifested. Kamala never had to tell Bruno. She’s never told anyone.

Truthfully, Kamala did not tell Bruno so much as he was there when this happened to her. So she hasn't actually had to tell anybody. And when she went to tell Nakia, her friend started going on about the trouble this was causing the community. As far as telling her family. It's moved into being dangerous for her family. And that is mixed in with the fear of what she's doing to the community, and the knowledge of how her mother feels about superheroes. And that's a lot to have to deal with.

Well, the series never says the villains are jinn. Kamran's mother says they are most commonly known as jinn. I think she means they were usually called jinns by the Muslim population. Which, by the way, is not surprising, considering the supernatural traits of this group.

I understand why Kamala couldn't tell her. I usually hate when the primary plot device is miscommunication or lack of communication. It's usually so lazy. But this show is so well written. When Nakia comes into Kamala's room and flops down on the bed exhausted as Kamala is watching the video of her saving that boy at the mosque, she starts off saying, "Nakia, I really need to tell you something," but then Nakia sees what she was watching and starts going off on the "Night Light" hero and says that was why the DODC stormed into the mosque, and then even says that the costumed person clearly "doesn't care" about how her actions are going to negatively affect their community. So Kamala WAS going to tell her, but after THAT rant from Nakia, Kamala decides to save it for a different moment.

You want a show with realistic portrayals of Muslim life, hire Muslim producers/directors. (And if you want realistic Egyptian portrayals in Moon Knight, hire Egyptian producers/directors.) Marvel and Disney and Feige are doing it the right way and it pays off on the screen.

So, this episode gets a 9.2 from me. No episode has ever gotten less than a 9. This show... (was about to say "Jesus" in order to emphasize my point). This show...yo. Consistently, better than any other MCU show. Granted, we're only 3 episodes in. Still.
