That beam sword can also deflect enemy beam weapons when using the block ability. This is a safer way of avoiding danger, but doesn't always reflect the attack back at the enemy, unless you do it right before its about to hit you. Still, it's useful when you're under pressure from a large number of enemies. Bullets are destroyed outright by it when blocking.

@@DotGamesR Hope it helps! The defence doesn't work against physical attacks or grabs though, only most projectiles. So it won't be your answer to everything. The back step meanwhile demands good reflexes to avoid the rest of the attacks.
