Natakapriya the 10th melakarta ragam .,This Sampoorna ragam is 4th one in the 2nd Chakra Netra and is the is the shuddha madhyamam equivalent of 'Shadvidamargini', which is the 46th melakarta ragam.It is called as Naţabharanam under Dikshitar school; though notes are same, scales are vakra . It is an shadava-sampurna raga/6 notes in ascending scale, while full 7 are used in descending scale; Ar: S G₂ M₁ P N₂ D₂ N₂ Ṡ / Av: Ṡ N₂ D₂ N₂ P N₂ P M₁ G₂ G₂ R₁ R₁ S. I have no idea about a Dikshitar kriti in this ragam!!! Of course, I am reminded of Dr.BMK's "Paripalaya Maam' ; Thiruvotriyur Thyagayyar's 'Endukinta Kopamu' and the kriti- Geetha vadhya Nadan' composed by Thanjavur Sankara Iyer the renowned Teacher who passed away in the last month was is a well known teacher. His students include students include T.V. Sankaranarayanan, Chitravina N Ravikiran, and Neyveli Santhanagopalan . This one- 'idi samayamu'. the kriti of Mysore Vsudevacharya might have listened long back, probaly sung by Tanjore kalyanaraman. Its a avery small kriti. Here the young Vocalist ( listening her rendition for the first time) SREERANJINI KODAMPALLY presented a very comprehensive ragaalapana. Her rendition is in the best eloquence with class tone.......lovely niraval @ 'karua jesi munu nive kari rajuni brovaledaa ...' and a well proliferated swarakalpana excellent indeed....Very promising singer....best wishes...
