Having graduated from high school in 1986, Natalie’s voice has been a constant in my musical journey. Peppery Man is in my current rotation. Her voice is just as beautiful as ever, and the story telling unmatched. My family is also of Italian descent but I don’t speak a word. I still got goosebumps when she started singing in Italian.

I used to be absolutely obsessed with Natalie Merchant since 1987 (I was seventeen). I still have all my 10,000 Maniacs albums, cassettes, and CDs. Then, when she went solo, I bought all that media as well. I saw her in concert 3X, even bringing my son Elijah when he was 10 (her Leave your Sleep tour). I have a very old 10,000 Maniacs book and even one of her winter coats that I won on eBay. She signed the inside and drew a picture. I don't really listen to her much these days, and it makes me sad sometimes. I'll listen to Seven Years or other songs, and it just takes me back to those days. I'm 53 now and wonder how the time flies so very fast. 😢 She mentioned/sang It's a Comin'. I always thought that song was so prophetic. I do still listen to that particular CD, it's in my car. Her song Texas really makes my heart happy. I'm 3rd generation Texan.
