Why didn't the divers pop off the helmet and give her one of their spare regulators?

Or flip her around so the water went down to her feet?

it's a 2019 movie, so the divers are probably DEI hires that failed on logic 101, or the writers of this movie failed the physics 101 class. Pick one. There could have been so many logical options available. Using a spare tank to pressurize the suit, astronaut not being dumb and trying to proof a point. At least the rest of the plot follows actual womanly logic. Getting fired for almost drowning, not taking therapy and then tracking down the man that axed her from the next mission. Using a variety of weapons and the police finding many disturbing items. So naturally only a mere three years pass by and Lucy is working as a well established beekeeper, so I guess being a completely deranged premeditated attempted murder suspect only yields a single year in prison? And why did they think this was a good plot for a movie? Oh wait, the movie only made 325k on a budget of 25M, oops

Another unrealistic film. Divers would be very close.

And flipping around would have let the water drain to her feet...

Another huge box office flop actually. Not to mention astronauts are also selected to completely adhere to strict guidelines and rules.

Yeah because training like this is just free balled and if you want to drown yourself, that's totally a thing you'll be allowed to do lmao! Dumbest space movie scene I've watched in a long time. As if the rescue divers wouldn't be at arms reach at all times and they would have set, trained procedures for if water got in the suit that everyone, including her, would be drilled on and would just do automatically as soon as it happened. She wouldn't have a choice in the matter. If she wouldn't stop, the rescue divers probably would just pop her visor and force the issue or use physical force take her up assuming she was incapacitated in some way like by hypoxia because she was making a really dumb decision. Not to mention if you fail to follow the emergency procedure because you just refused to do it, you would be DONE at NASA and whatever you were doing before that. She'd be back to being a barista at Starbucks after pulling that. She didn't just risk her life by not following the emergency procedure, she risked the lives of the rescue divers too. You don't prove yourself at NASA by ignoring emergency procedures and safety to get the job done at all costs. That's the opposite of NASA's culture. SMH.

Well at least the getting fired part was the result in this plot. Then she goes completely bonkers, tracks down her supervisor at the airport and confronts him with a large array of weapons. Sooo naturally that yields a mere sentence of a single year and she becomes a well established beekeeper within 3 years of the incident. Thankfully this movie was a total box office flop.
