Hip Dysplasia is usually diagnosed by an experienced physician using the combination of symptoms, hip examination, and x-ray findings.
It is estimated that adult patients with hip dysplasia may see more than three healthcare providers and have symptoms for five years before a correct diagnosis is made.

Very best wishes to you! A wonderful paediatrician checked and noticed my son’s dysplasia just after birth. When just 6 weeks he went from a pavlic harness to surgery and a hip spica from ankle to chest. He’s now an active 18yrs with a taekwondo black belt! Fantastic surgeon and test system that needs to be applauded and fully publicised. STEPS helped two novice parents take care of our precious boy, THANK YOU.

I am 68 years old. I was diagnosed at age 60 after I had five previous back surgeries! I was going through my PT after my last back surgery when I learned I had bilateral hip dysplasia. I've been walking with a walker ever since. The specialist I saw at Emory Hospital in Atlanta told me to lose enough weight for the surgery. My left hip is worse. Well, after five years of trying every diet, trying to exercise with limiited mobility, I still can't lose enough weight. I did some recent reading & see now ortho surgeons seem to find that obese people have an increased success rate at hip replacements! I"m hoping I can find one of those surgeons!

I was diagnosed in my late 20's after I noticed my knees and hips didn't look even and my gait seemed a little off, and I thought I might have a leg length discrepancy. The dr. figured out right away that something was wrong, did xray and said you have hip dysplasia. But no recommendation as to treatment. I guess I was lucky that I got an immediate diagnosis. I'm 39 now and I still don't have much pain, but I want to start exercising more after being quite sedentary as a former truck driver, and I don't want to injure myself.

Go see a gait pattern specialist. Changing the way you walk maybe can solve a great deal of your pain issues. Good luck!

I have hip dysplasia myself and I’ve been visiting doctors since late 2016 but found out in 2020. I went to a more, expensive kind of hospital? More like in the city, the doctor even was a celebrity from a famous show in Poland from TV. (TVN)

I am 58 and now using a walker. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my early 30's. Went to see an Ortho surgeon yesterday and he will be performing a full hip replacement on me. He said it is due to hip dysplasia. I do have arthritis however the hip dysplasia if left untreated will lead to arthritis in the hip. Had I been properly diagnosed 10 years ago with my first hip X-rays I may not be undergoing a full hip replacement surgery. I hope he can save my left hip.

@@animequeen5624 Check out the correct position of the coccyx while sitting down, its actually helping a lot for me. After engage on the glutes to try to reposition them. The idea is to stretch the lower back a lot, you can train this this while sitting or laying down and later on standing. If you train your glutes hard enough and your lower abs to correct posture maybe you have hope.

@@ohemaa_ages3175 watch the video "why sitting hurts" he explains quite well. If you have too much hyperlordosis you have to counter this while sitting. Not make it worse. Sit on low chairs under your knees. Your ribs must never be completely open, instead you should pull them down and breathe correctly using your diaphragm. If you are tighter on the right side, maybe you should tilt your shoulders slightly to counter this.

You should see an orthopedic surgeon and pain management dr. Most likely they will recommend hip replacement and physical therapy.
@anaflores4383

You need to see an orthopedic that specializes on hips, probably physical therapy will be recommended but I do get pain medication from my Dr because the orthopedic would not prescribe it for you.

I did that. I my case, the pain got worst and worst after it. But, as i said in another comment, the only thing that got me better was changing my gait pattern. If for some reason you didn't got better yet, go see a gait pattern specialist. Maube it can help you!
