Especially when he has his own personal reason to run. If they ask him why he stole the bike, he could have said he was going to sell it. But being seen, he ran from the seen, ditched the bike to get rid of the evidence. He could have gotten a deal if he knew her plan. But I doubt he did and only saying he was stealing the bike lock for a girl who hired him sounds far fetched and since he the one who already has a record. The cops are not likely to follow up.

Natalie was not "trying to make them even." This is pure negligence. She was swinging around a *loaded* firearm as carelessly as though she was scattering birdseed, and then aimlessly discharged it and by sheer LUCK did not kill him (this is the third time on this show she's almost killed Monk). There is nothing commendable about this, and it is far from being any example that would support her being the "best assistant".
