I like the communication with the band (pianist) throughout, but especially around @2:39 onwards. I may be imagining things, but I think she’s signalling there that she can go all the way today and go as high as she can.

I’m no musician so I don’t know how these things work, but to me it looked like: “I got this!”. Now I’m wondering if then the pianist informs the rest of the band? I’m sure I’m overthinking this!

Eleonore Bon could be! But I think it was more of an acknowledgement of the killer playing that really kicked in right there. As a pianist, I’d be pretty annoyed if we had two different charts to follow based on if the vocalist could handle what was planned or not. It does kinda look like she’s signaling up, though!

I know Whitney Houston would often see how far or long she could go and then signal the band what to do, like whether to take it up a notch to her highest note, or not.
