It was Yule before it was Christmas. There are many reasons for the season.
@NatalieBennett4 жыл бұрын
@@mercurialpierrot7073 and when I'm speaking of the CHRISTmas season I'm speaking of Christ as the reason for it. I'm aware that the day itself has ancient pagan origins and that's ok. But when the word Christmas is being used as the name of the Holiday, it's to celebrate the birth of Jesus! 💙
@weronicaswonder81564 жыл бұрын
The celebration of the birth of Jesus is mainly related to the pre-Christian traditions. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Jesus was born in the month of December. Among the researchers, opinions differ regarding both his date of birth and year of birth. The fact that Christmas is still celebrated at the end of December is probably due to the fact that the Romans celebrated the midwinter festival on 25 December in pre-Christian times. In many ways, the Roman feast was reminiscent of the feast the Vikings celebrated at the end of December.
@NatalieBennett4 жыл бұрын
@@weronicaswonder8156 yes! A great bit of history. We don't celebrate Christ's birth at the end of December because we actually think he was born then. But when celebrating and serving him is a 365 days a year thing (like it is for me) then the technicality doesn't matter!

Natalie, I love how real and down to earth you are. And you are so beautiful. I am so glad you are feeling better. I think that your not buying all the latest gadgets, appliances, toys and things that you see on other channels is so refreshing. I want to cut down the stuff I have and you are an inspiration. I just moved from a big house to a tiny house. We cannot walk through the garage or most of the house as we weed thru the boxes and decide what gets to stay (in case we move again), or what we really can let go of. My husband isn't so much on board of letting go (unless it is my stuff)because he doesn't like this house. And having moved from a house where the kitchen was a big as this whole house, I have a boatload of stuff I cannot use. Thank you for the inspiration. I hope you always stay the way you are. OMG well said Natalie!👏👏👏... I have been thinking the same as you about "holiday tableware"... I watch so many American you tubers and the obsession with "tableware for every celebration"... Which I just never understood🤔.. Exactly for the reason you said! ... You cover it all with food, so you can't see the pictures anyway!.... In Europe we go for more monochrome tableware and use the table decorations to adapt the tablescape for each celebration eg.. Easter , Christmas , Halloween etc..This method is so much better.. 1) Less clutter and 2) less money spend and 3) less stuff to store that has a once-a-year use! .... Well done for bringing that point up! 👏👏👏 Minimalism is different for everyone... As you say it is reducing and only keeping what you use.. So in your case keeping more entertaining tableware due to your big family!.. But just keeping what you use... Or the part you use!... So true... I just decluttered all my dishwasher, washing machine and clothes dryer accessories because I never use them... It was so great... One whole cupboard empty :) I just love your mindset! I never buy on black Friday... But if you do want to buy something.. ... you should "only buy what you had on your shopping list (for several weeks) that you would have bought anyway!"

I'm so ready for this Christmas season! What a great video! I truly appreciate your reminders that it's not necessary to buy all the things and over spend. You help me feel confident that this season will be special and magical for my little boys even without an instagram perfect decorated home ❤️

Top christmas decor would probably be the big red blanket we bring out, owl christmas pillow that says "owl keep your warm", yearly special ornaments and the sparkly wreath (: 🎄
