My very *UNCONVENTIONAL* Fall 2020 DCP PHONE INTERVIEW!!!

I'm nervous, so you don't have to be... Watch as I stumble through my Disney College Program phone interview for the Fall 2020 season! My interviewer takes a really different structure than I've ever seen online before, so I really hope this can help anyone who's looking to do some research before their own PI. 😊
In case you're curious, here's a rundown of my current timeline;
Applied - JAN 15 at 8:21 pm
Invited to take my WBI - JAN 15 at 8:24 pm
Passed WBI/Scheduled Phone Interview - JAN 15 at 11:46 pm
Phone Interview - JAN 24 at 3:15 pm
No Longer in Consideration - APRIL 9 at 11:01 am

As of 11:01 today, April 9th, I was officially moved into No Longer in Consideration Status. I cannot conjure the proper words to describe the emotions I'm going through right now. This has been a dream of mine for a very long time and I'm trying not to let bitterness block my perseverance as I will inevitably apply again. The truly heartbreaking part is that I will never know why I was rejected - if it was something I said, did, wrote, or if I was simply pushed to the back of the stack and got caught in the COVID-19 NLIC wave. Despite the outcome, I'm still proud of my interview, I refuse to shy away from the reality that my DCP journey is messy and imperfect and needing at least 4 attempts to get in. I still believe in magic, I have to believe that if I keep working hard, my dreams will come true. Thank you to everyone who's supported me.

It seems like Ashley is highly interested in you, in fact, looking forward to work with you in DCP. I’m sure that Ashley’s interviewed a millions of DCP hopefuls all of the time, who are talkative out of nervousness. Girl, you sounded so relaxed & put together as if you didn’t read off of note cards. That’s wonderful that you empathized your enthusiasm to work in the Disney company for the rest of your life, & you impressed Ashley with not only all of your work experiences, but how you impressed your clients in your company. You have to show off your skills, talents, & how you dealt with situations in your past work experiences. Disney wants employees to be enthusiastic about their company, who are dedicated to their company. Employees, like you real soon & they better accept you, who make Disney look amazing. BTW... Fun fact! My cousins, sister & I have been to Walt Disney’s burial site in Glendale, CA’s Forest Lawn. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the parks don't reopen till Fall. With them letting the spring program go early and everything going on right now everything is up in the air even for current cast members. For the next time I would focus more on listening to the questions and not trying to fit in every thing you had planned. For example, she seemed to want to know more about food service but you talked a lot about acting. and don’t mention you have watched the videos of other interviews (they say on the website not to watch them). I got in and I think what helped me is I talked about how I wanted to work for the company (I mentioned stuff from my marketing textbook like every role a staring role) they get a lot of applicants calling in talking about how much they love Disney movies and the parks etc. but I think my focus on how it worked as a company to work for not just one to buy from helped differentiate me.

Hahahaha dude I had a broken phone when I had my phone interview so I accidentally hung up when they first called! I almost cried but they left a voicemail they'd call back in 15 mins 😂 my friends were laughing while I died on the inside! I hope you get in!! just a psa to others going through their PI: the phone interviews are typically not this long!! I'm currently a CP in entertainment on my extension and my phone interview was 15 mins. I know my housemates also didn't have extremely long interviews either, with the average being about 20 mins!

True! There's no one way a person get's into the program. This is my third time applying and each experience has had a different timeline, I can only imagine the same holds true with the PI. Just have a positive attitude and trust in the process, 10 minute or 20 minute interview, you can do this!

Literally just cried happy tears at how happy you were after the interview!! You’ve got this! I did the SA 2012 and this was the greatest adventure of my life! Definitely take advantage of those lectures you can go to, and explore the parks so much to the point where you can fully explain how to get to a certain location for families looking for it.

Out of curiosity, what kind of background did you have/talk about with your interviewer that you felt helped you get bbb (congrats by the way!)? I notice most of the applicants end up in quick service and retail jobs as they need to be filled first, so I’m wondering if they do put people with specific talents in other places like the boutique if they really have the experience.

@@Anaconda_Jesus I actually have some experience that would place me in bbb! I was a dance teacher and a babysitter. For years, I've worked with children, especially young kids, and have taught them or led them in activities. I've done pageants and theater, so I have a lot of experience with hair and makeup. Unfortunately, I received my NLIC today, the heartbreaking part is that I don't have an explanation and will never know if I was rejected solely because of the coronavirus pandemic or if I still wouldn't have got in, even if the situation were different. I truly think that with COVID-19 having the effect that it did on the Disney company, they may be pushing this spring's DCPs to the fall to still give them a chance. That in NO way means your chance is gone. Your persistence will show them just how passionate you are about this opportunity and about the Disney company as a whole.
