Korra loved the idea of being the Avatar and wanted to do it so badly, but was struck down at every turn. I believe somewhere in the lore it states that avatars are born opposite of the last one. Aang didn't want to be avatar, korra did. Aang was passive as korra was aggressive. Korra alone left me crying when I first saw it. I had a heavy spine surgery at 14 and the aftermath of it left me with chronic backpain. I've had that pain for about 8 years now and the first years it was a lot worse than it is now. Wanting to do things when your body doesn't let you is a horrible feeling. Trying all you can but it still not doing quite enough is devastating. You start to mourn your life before the pain. And it's so hard to face old friends again, because you can see that they all continued their lives while yours stood still. Seeing this episode really hit home. Especially since the time skip of 3 years is exactly how long it took for me to kind of get my life started back up again. Also her frustrated outburst against Katara is so relatable, followed by the immediate apology because it's not Katara's fault, but the frustration just needed to be let out cause it's been building up.

Korra season 4 has such a special and significant place in my heart. I had a stroke at age 24 that left me unable to do anything by myself, walk, speak, eat, write, think.... often I thought I survive but at what cost? I re-watched these episodes in the middle of my rehabilitation and I can't explain how connected I felt with Korra, I went from being an active, smart, happy-go-lucky woman to a shell of a person. But however sad it was, the experience was a learning process as well... I didn't know how much of a hyper-independent person I was, needing help and having no other choice but to rely on people was HORRIBLE, and such a mix of emotions as well, i felt eternally grateful but ashamed, i felt loved but i was so angry at myself and my body. I'm happy to have made an almost full recovery but the consequences are there and they'll be there forever. Every single emotion that Korra was feeling, I felt it as well. I loooove how realistic it was.

I'm happy that you've started Season 4 (I know you're ahead on Patreon) and I'm excited to see you react to the remainder of the Season. Bit of a fun fact, Kuvira is voiced by Robin Williams's daughter Zelda, and it's really kinda her first major role in anything. Maybe it's just cool to me cause I'm a big Robin Williams fan and a big Legend of Zelda fan (which she is named after), but still. I was excited to see Toph too when I watched the show when it was first airing, especially since I was under the impression that she was dead prior to that. As far as the dog "seeing" the spirit, it's not just that specific dog, it's believed that in general dogs and some other animals are able to sense different energies and changes in surroundings and things like that, even before humans are able to. There's many stories of animals sensing things like sicknesses and pregnancies and such in humans even before the humans themselves know about it. It's also why Paranormal Investigators will sometimes bring dogs with them during investigations, because the dogs can pick up on things that humans or their machines may not be able to. It's good that you're wrapping the series up soon (or probably already have it wrapped up on Patreon), because we have the live-action ATLA remake coming to Netflix in February, as well as other shows and movies set in the Universe coming out over the next few years.

4x02 episode is tremendously worth showing how actually hard to handle mental health problems like PTSD is. You could kick spirits, and villains and do some great things, but you would get some scars, and your mind can be damaged even more than a physical condition. And people tend to underestimate how hard could be to recover and how long it could actually take to get well after all. It could be hard even if the whole world respects you for what are you doing. If you fail and be abandoned by everyone... It's hard to imagine how traumatic it is, but it happens from time to time.

She wants so much to be the hero, but often times it's too difficult despite her physical prowess. And I think it's largely due to her emotional and mental struggles.

The Earth Nation outfit really suits Korra

I think Katara's personality changing and Toph's not changing makes sense. Waterbenders are all about change and adapting. Earthbenders are steadfast and unchanging.

"Can you imagine how much pain Aang felt when he learned that his entire culture had been taken from him?" "Or, how much pain I felt when I lost my mother?"

While I love the original series, I like Korra even more... though I respect that Korra could not have been the awesome show it was if it didn't have the original series as a foundation. I think Korra is just such a well written character and her character arc over these four seasons is outstanding.

The “Sokka watching this video” meme may be the hardest I’ve ever laughed at a Natalie Gold video (besides Nat not realizing she was streaming). Once again, bravo to the Editor.

Big fan of the first half of this season, less so the latter half. Character work in the beginning is insanely good!

I love toph, she is my favourite character in all of avatar, I just wish we had got more of her throughout the show, but I'm happy with what little we got.

I think you're thinking about Jinora's bald head the wrong way. She didn't choose to shave her head because of her master's degree tattoo. She had to shave her head to get the tattoo on her head 😂 Ain't no magical applications in this universe.
