although he was my fave skater at Santa Cruz, i think Rodney Mullen did more game changing in the skating world
@rhettbutlerwasarapist11859 жыл бұрын
ultravio1et This doesn't have to do with Rodney, the subject is Natas and his contributions, which mostly are from before Rodney skated street.

Are you related to the great Don Van Vliet (aka Captain Beefheart)?
@davidvanvliet1934 жыл бұрын
@@pabloisusi6097No I'm not related to the great Captain Beefheart. I'm from the Netherlands. 'van Vliet' is a Dutch name. Fun fact: Don was born as' Don Vliet' , he added 'van' later to his name.
@pabloisusi60974 жыл бұрын
@@davidvanvliet193 Thank you for your answer David. As Natas is from Los Angeles as Captain Beefheart was...I thought maybe is related to the Brave Captain. To close the circle, that song Brave Captain frome Firehose, appeared on a Natas video part...sure Mike Watt and co had the Vliet influnce. All of them Angelenos. God bless Los Angeles and The Vliet's! Peace bro.

I grew up in California, Lived in Lawndale, would sk8 to Redondo beach and Santa Monica, every weekend, 1 day this crazy guy was out in Santa Monica, amongst the crowd he was doing some crazy ollie jumps, Turns out was Natas, and he had park benches out in a empty spot and was doing ollie jumps no ramps over the park benches, they was doing a live video shoot! This guy was ahead of his time back then... I true Ikon then ans still now..😎

Best street skater. Innovative. I remember seeing his Thrasher covers, and here's a guy 4 1/2 feet off the ground, near a wall, and there's no ramp around to be seen.

I remember I had a Santa Monica Airlines poster of Natas on top of a Uhaul truck doing an Ollie across a 10 foot gap to another Uhaul. I was in 7th grade I’m 47 now , brings back memories of a simpler & better time.

Grew up on this dude. Now 50, having gone deep down the new age rabbit holes enough to see the trap, cant help but wonder, WHY did his parents name him with the anagram that they did?? Coven members? What secrets did this guy grow up enduring? Its just too weird.

I know he still skates occasionally, I wonder if he can ollie as he used to, or close to it...I mean, he is old and everything and far from a regular skater now, but if you can ollie those 10+ inches board so high, you probably can ollie a popsicle high enough right?
