+Theo Carbone --- you are the perfect example of a dumbass troll, dudes like you try to act like you are so intelligent by looking down on others. People think he's dumb because he has a slight speech impediment and he also doesn't like to dance like a little monkey to promote fights. This guy is 100% real, he doesn't put on a show for trolls like yourself and you are fooling nobody with your so carefully worded comments framed to look like naturally intelligent observations, your comments are full of spelling and grammar mistakes. Step down off your high horse, or should I say in your language 'dismount from your fine steed, blah blah blah, I'm so succinct and educated, blah blah blah'. So no doubt time for you to return to your family estate for some tea and crumpets --- later asshat!!!

Unfortunately Nate will never be the poster child of the UFC but he and his brother are two workhorses that helped keep the business going. Hi baby
@kcwliew8 жыл бұрын
People on here commenting about how Nate Diaz isn't smart etc... Firstly it's pretty stupid to judge him or anyone based on their public persona. How they act, what they say or do isn't a reliable indicator of their true self. I would have thought that goes without saying but clearly not. You really don't know if Nate spends all his spare time reading Dostoevsky and playing chess... yes you REALLY don't know what he does when he's not in the public eye. You can guess... but that's about as reliable as saying... black holes don't exist because we can't see them. Genius! Secondly the criteria you're using to make that judgement is simply inaccurate. I'm sure somebody has compiled research on this but just anecdotally, I know plenty of people who are terrible public speakers, camera shy, fumble their words etc... but are extremely intelligent and leaders in their academic fields. I also know plenty of people who are extremely eloquent, will wipe the floor with you in any argument (brother in law is a lawyer), but who also exhibit extreme stupidity in many other areas of their lives. Intelligence shows itself in so many different ways, the idea of speech, wit and argumentative skills being used as the benchmark is not merely old fashioned it's pretty laughable... So to go back to my black hole analogy... as you can't SEE the black hole, you have to look at outward evidence of its existence. The same is true for Nate... I for one am almost certain that he's an extremely smart guy. I'm not a fan boy... I love a lot of different MMA fighters. I'm merely defending Nate against what I see as a pretty prejudiced and stupid world view in the same way as I would defend say someone who was being told they were stupid because they were black... outward appearances mean very little. Pretty much everyone who reaches a high level in combat sports is either extremely smart or gifted physically or both. Why am I so certain? Being a top level MMA competitor isn't like being a top level sprinter... the number of different skills and disciplines you have to master is so huge it simply selects against people who don't have the intellectual capacity to absorb and re-apply technical information effectively. I'm not saying that improved technique won't help a sprinter achieve the highest levels but anyone who would argue that the amount of information that needs to be processed by a sprinter in the act of winning the 100m vs an MMA fighter at the highest levels is anywhere comparable. So... Nate Diaz being a BJJ blackbelt says right away that he's a smart guy. If you've ever trained in BJJ (and I can clearly see most people commenting on here haven't), you'll know that BJJ is like body chess. It's not a case of being stronger, and it's not merely case of being better trained. You have to be able to outwit your opponent where a lot of the time both parties know the moves available (unless you're a black belt rolling with a blue belt). After all, a triangle choke is a triangle choke - it's how you get there that's important. It's how you confuse or fool your opponent into falling into it. Believe me, if you're an absolute dunce, then you're not getting your black belt, not even if you train for 50 years... Couple this with his excellent striking skills - and again, if you've done any striking you'll know that striking is also a chess game... how to make your opponent see and think one thing whilst you do something else entirely. I put BJJ first because physicality is more reliable in the striking game - i.e. speed and strength. In BJJ if you're smarter than your opponent you tend to win regardless of how big or strong they are. Secondly let's look at the other outwards manifestations of his intelligence. Whether you like how he talks, behaves etc... the fact of the matter is that he's a smart negotiator. He knows how to get what he wants in a sport filled with athletes who might appear more erudite etc... but aren't getting anywhere near that big pay day. At the end of the day it's prize fighting and if you think Nate hasn't played the game well in order to get his millions well... I don't know what to say. Dana White and the Fertitas are tough customers and smart as hell and yet Nate has managed to position himself in such a way that he's been able to apply leverage on them. That's not easy in a sport where the athletes have so few contractual powers. If you think Nate is stupid then essentially you're saying that you think Dana White and the Fertitas are stupid because make no mistake, none of them liked the Diaz brothers or wanted to be in this position with them. As Dana White said, the negotiations in order to get the second fight booked were the hardest he'd ever had to undertake and whilst some of that was probably from the McGregor side of things, I am certain that Nate played his cards smart and pushed for the best possible deal he could get. Did you see that video of Nate stockton slapping Dana White upside his head when they met? Why do you think that video was released? Why do you think that even happened? Do you think Dana suggested that? What marketing genius is that? How better to build his own brand? You might be right... Nate Diaz could be an absolute moron who just got lucky in life, but if I went over and had dinner with him and he opened with a question about quantum physics... well I think I'd say 'I'm not surprised mother fucker!'

I honestly cannot stand Nate especially cause I'm a huge Conor fan so when he pulled it off in that first fight I was devastated and couldn't even stand to hear him talk. But watching this interview I genuinely laughed and enjoyed hearing what he had to say. Nate seems like a good dude and he's a badass no doubt. Always down to scrap and has never been punked by anybody. Wish him the best in his career.

I'm a CM fan, but hats off to Nate. He schooled him after no training camp. About time this kid got the recognition he deserves. 10 yrs in MMA and never been knocked out is Phenomenal

Man, I am so happy Nate is finally getting recognition. I can't believe it took beating Conor for it though. He has beaten a lot of good guys!

As a Nate Diaz fan I was at first against a rematch between him and Conor but over the week my opinion has changed. Nothing but good fortune awaits Diaz in a rematch with McGregor. He gets another big payday, and will have a lot more pull in the UFC if he gets the win. There needs to be more fighters like Nate Diaz at the top.

Shit it's so weird seeing Nate Diaz all over the place. Those brothers are renowned for hating to do media obligations and not being popular with the "mainstream" MMA crowd. Shit, people I know who watched the fight knew who Conor was and had no idea who Nate was and I had to give them a lecture on just how legendary him and his brother are.

Nate is looking good. I like the extra muscle on him, he is a tall guy for 155 lbs. but of course he has to cut weight come fight time. Still, always a fan no matter what.

I am definitely becoming a Nate fan. He is the only person who seems to speak truthfully about this "sport" and how people perceive him. Asking if he could take something from the set was the icing on the cake. He seems like a very down to earth guy who never believes any hype, whether about himself or other fighters.
