I did not read other comments so if this repeats someone's idea or thoughts sorry. While you were painting this sideways I kept seeing it becoming a water scene. The middle swipe would be the water line and then the branches would be individual trees and would be duplicated on each side of the water line as kind of like a reflection in the water. I think it would be really cool. I would love to see if you would try it out.

Same here and I think this painting works equally well as landscape or portrait, although it has a very definite bottom edge in portrait orientation.

Love the way that you can hang this pour Either horizontal or vertical. Horizontal as a reflection & Vertical As a large old tree. Best usage of a pour I have seen so far in my looking at videos In the last six months to a year.

So.... I had to step away for a minute when you began the tree. When I came back it appeared to me that you were doing several trees along the top half and shadows of them on the bottom half. I was so surprised when you showed that it was actually one large tree in the center. I must say I would struggle to decide which way I would hang it. But.. omg!!! it is stunning. Wowwie! That is beautiful! I like it for the reasons you mentioned. The copper and gold looks like they are illuminating from behind, both the trunk and branches. I too, liked only the swipe and liked it as was, glowed like the Aurora Borialis. If left like that then maybe add a "tree line" in the center, and possibly tree shadows seen below in the snow on the other half. This is truly inspiring! Thanks for sharing!

Hello Nate, Wow! Those purple blends are stunning against the copper and gold. The mystery in all the little details that the paint and swipes created is delightful. The paint is so silky looking. Those little tiny cells climbing up the tree are so joyful and sparkling. I want to taste that purple to see if it tastes purple. It's awesomely lucious. I think your painting is also wonderful horizontal. It can go both ways, visually it just draws the eye in and hugs it. I think it's fantastic. A beautiful purple dream.💜💜💛🐦

Beautiful palette! I use Golden's GAC 800 as a couple drop additive in each paint cup. No cracking yet.

How did you only get cells along the trunk? It's gorgeous

Thanks Linda! It's all about how you layer the colors. Swiping the non-metallic over the gold and copper paints caused the cells to rise where the paint was thickest, and blend out as it swiped thinner. I hope that helps!

So creative, when you had the purple strip down the picture I immediately saw this as a cty s ape with the lights of the city in silhouette. Then invert the picture and I could see embers of a once vibrant woodlands smoldering with the lake mirroring in the foreground. And then turn it vertically and you see the trunk of a large tree.
