I'm so glad I found this video! I am 55 years old and live alone in a two-bedroom house plus a full basement! Just surrounded by stuff! Lots and lots of antiques and hand me downs. I am getting rid of almost everything! I said to myself, if it don't fit in this closet, then I'm getting rid of it! All the dust and the constant cleaning, it's like Non-Stop! It never ends and I'm sick of it! All this week I've been selling lots of stuff on Craigslist, putting stuff by the curb. I don't want to end up on an episode of Hoarders!😩😆

I have been donating stop left and right! Everything from, pictures, and tables and tablecloth, curtains and drapes, dishes, knickknacks and bric-a-bracs! @L Sheesh not to critique you, just a thought. One thing is being a hoarder and another having an apartment that empty. It is like one extreme or the other for people. I find extremely boring and uncreative living in a space that barren.
@vaderladyl4 жыл бұрын
@L I agree with you in part as I am not into a lot of things or clutter but also not so minimal. I meant that people are always going to the extremes either a hoarder or a super minimalist. I am not a minimalist but I am also not a hoarder, I like a happy medium and for you the apartment might look fine which is ok if that is your aesthetic but to me it is looks empty. Besides I am trying to have a polite conversation with you but you had to ruin it with your rudeness. If you like the apartment is fine but I wouldn't like to be in it if that is your home either.
@vaderladyl4 жыл бұрын
@L I am not easily offended not even remotely, but your last remark was actually quite unnecessary and besides the point, and you come off as abrasive without realizing it. You have valid points but I also have valid points too. Just learn to listen without having to be so caustic. I can learn from you and you can learn from me, simple as that.
@vaderladyl4 жыл бұрын
@L I am not offended just annoyed by your way of connecting with others and I am not here to change your mind just to learn about other people's points of view like yours. You failed to acknowledge or see that I am not supporting hoarding or accumulation of things as I also don't support minimalism. I am supporting a happy medium but you only want to see what you want to so you keep knocking down all other opinions because you are too fixated on yours to be able to exchange ideas in a objective manner with others. A shame.

Minimalism isn't about buying cheap stuff, it's the opposite. You have very few items but the ones you have are quality and will last you. I am a minimalist. I may have less clothes than I used to but I buy nice things so I don't need to replace them as often. You're killing it for 21.

This is when we REALLY learned that we could easily live out of a bag and loved it :) When I was 18 and moved on my own....I did what you did and got a new bed and stereo system. First off, Nate, wow, I mean you are so right. How is that possible to have your shit together at 21? What? I am moving and can't believe how much stuff I have. I have 10 shot glasses. I collect them as they are some of the places I have traveled. I have wine glasses galore. I rarely have parties. I tend to only drink out of 2 or 3 of my favorites. I have been throwing out, donating and selling my stuff. But, need to do more throwing out. Thanks Bud for the inspiration! Who wants to constantly clean the dust off of shit I don't use!

Same here and I kind of find this whole minimalism trend thing a bit stupid. I mean if it can encourage people to be less materialistic at least we got that going, which is nice. But it is a bit of a shame it had to become a trend for people to change :/

I actually love your phone in the lock jar too; especially initially, because we are super glued to our phones, this is a truth! I'm MANY decades older than you Nate, and imho your way of making coffee tastes BEST, as well as being environmentally friendly. Only improvement i would add is using coffee BEANS but then you have to own a grinder ;)

If you are going to make coffee like that just boil the water into a pan with a lid, then put the grinds in and boil for about 3 mins. Remove from the heat, add a little cold water to stop extraction. It will make fantastic cowboy coffee. (you can even decant it a little bit into your mug)

the slippery gypsy that’s why they make sure everyone is glued to a tv. It’s not the shows they need you to watch but the commercials, that’s the real meaning behind tv.
@minikorsi5 жыл бұрын
I think it would just change to the core: probably there would be more Airbnb type businesses, lots of Internet cafes and libraries with hot desk facilities...and definitely less magazines to sell you stuff you don’t need, less hours spent at jobs you hate, probably no suits, costumes and formal wear all together, no fast food joints...

$1,000 for a bed is cheap. I know some who paid $25,000 for a great mattress. Even mattresses at Macy’s can be as much as $2,500. I like minimalism. Save your money. Buy a home. Living in a skyscraper is overrated.

Hi, enjoyed watching this video. My back and neck pain stopped after I started sleeping on the floor within 3 weeks and this was 3 years ago. I sleep on a 1,5 cm thick yoga mat and a soft blanket on top. At day time I roll it and put it in my closet and use the mat for yoga and roll it up afterwards, too. This aves so much space and is easy to handel in case of moving. Sorry for mistakes I am not a native speaker but a new subscriber. Blessings from Germany and stay safe
