When you lay them down flat, it sends the blood that was pooling in the legs straight up to the heart within seconds, causing a major imbalance, killing the patient instantly. They need to go into a "W" shape, with them sat upright and knees up to their chin to prevent this from happening whilst waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

Laying him flat could kill him instantly your suppose to straighten they're legs and hold him sitting up so the dead blood don't enter the brain.

Laying them flat? Not a good idea as the pooled blood needs to be introduced slowly. They should be sat in the "W" position when safe on the ground. By sitting this way they are allowing the pooled blood to flow from the legs and slowly be re-introduced back into the body and prevents reflow syndrome. This helps your body filter the pooled blood better. #CSSTraining

Good stuff. I've been teaching this for a couple of years, ever since we started seeing that it's not compartment syndrome or "poison blood" that's the issue, it's simply hypovolemic shock. What are thoughts about using grillon to elevate the legs while setting up ropes? My gut instinct is to skip it and get them down ASAP, but I haven't seen any real research.
