I think this song is talking about Nate's feelings regarding his new steps towards the music industry, and how he still knows his roots ( "I got a way back home and an open door to all the stuff I left face down on the floor"). But at the same time he doesn't know where he is going to go in the music industry (so looking for someone to take him anywhere). The vial is His intellectual property (regarding his particular brand of lyrics and sound) and the injuries/robotics are the feeling of being a piece of machinery that is breaking down (like being overworked or taxing yourself) Or maybe I'm reading too much into this. Love the song!! Im gonna get the album so I can take it anywhere I go!

This is an amazing song and it says great things about your skill. I already preordered the signed cd in the biggest bundle you have. I’m super excited to see where you go from here and I’ll be here every step of the way. This song may be the best you’ve ever produced, not necessarily in musicality, because that’s very subjective, but in heart and passion and overall lyricism. Wonderful job, and I can’t thank you enough for all the joy you’ve caused me.

Pre-Listening Thoughts: I am LITERALLY freaking out right now! I hope this song is good! Post-Listening Thoughts: This is by far the most different sounding song from Nate yet. The vocals are top notch and very strong! The instrumentals are gorgeous! I don't really get the music video (that's what genius is for) but still cool! The song is amazing, and out of all your originals (excluding the FNAF stuff) this is maybe in 3rd place for me! Awesome. Final Rating: 9.77/10, has to grow on me more. I'm pressing replay! Edit (4 yrs later): Song is still dope, just got the vinyl. One of my favorite albums of all time.

It's absolutely amazing to see him here, now. The quality of the video, the vocals, the lyrics, everything. There's so much production and effort behind it, and it's incredible. The song has a beautiful vibe, and it's not like other songs he's done. I find it similar to his cover of 'This is Gospel'. It's not my style, -I prefer a more hardcore kind of thing- but I can still recognize a wonderful song when I hear it. Amazing work, Nate, as always.

"Ignore the rise but everyone sees you fall." That line reminds me a lot of Icarus's tale from Greek Mythology. The part of his story that is used and referenced most often is the part where he flew too close to the Sun and fell to his death into the dangerous waters of the ocean below. Rarely mentioned is the fact that he was able to fly in the first place (with the help of his father's wings and genius). Daedalus's ability to build actual working wings, to make both he and Icarus rise and soar above the clouds, is overshadowed by Icarus's fall when he gets overzealous and flies too high. I get that Icarus falling teaches a very important lesson, but there are other things in that story that are worth paying attention to. Everyone ignores that they (Daedalus and Icarus) were able to rise in the first place, instead paying attention to the part where Icarus fell; ignoring the remarkable and only seeing when everything went to shit.
@olivermoth6 жыл бұрын
i’ve been analyzing the lyrics and this is what i /think/ the song /might/ mean to Nate: he’s not happy living in LA cos of all the pressure and stuck up people and at one point wasn’t happy with where his career was going. he maybe felt like people (including himself) were ignoring his success and only seeing his struggles. he wasn’t at a good place but he’s ignored all the red flags and kept going and maybe burned himself out. he can’t keep pretending to be okay. he can’t keep up this satisfied facade. people are starting to see right through it. at this point he’s fed up and wants go to whatever “home” is to him. you can “take him anywhere” as long as it’s not here.

Originally, this channel was called NateWantsToBattle and Nate did video game/pop culture parodies of pop songs. This later expanded to anime covers and he released an original LoZ song. Later he began doing original music about anime/video games, which then lead to his first fully original album Sandcastle Kingdoms. During this time he added his stage name to the channel, Nathan Sharp - NateWantsToBattle. After that, he launched a record label, Give Heart Records, with his producer Shawn Christmas. Part of that was rebranding his main channel to be the label's channel since that's where all the music would be. As someone who been here since almost the beginning, seeing Nate come this far is incredible and inspiring. He's gone from being a comedic KZbinr into a full on musical artist and the journey has been amazing.

One visual detail that I really love about this is the color change at 3:03. I think it's super cool how up until that point, the lighting was all yellowish-orange, but at the bridge, at the part where the change happens, it flips to blueish-purple. I like that its now on the complete opposite side of the color wheel

This will always be one of my favorite songs of Nate's, maybe because of the emotion, or the somber feel to it, but I just love it. Ive listened to this(and most of Paid in Exposure) on repeat through my headphones at night to relax and it helps.

Man...every time I get discouraged or feel unmotivated to do anything with music, you put out something that reminds me why I should keep going. You've seriously been such an influence on me and my music (more so than all the fancy shmancy signed artists). So long as you keep being awesome I'll keep plugging away on my covers and whatnot. Thanks Nate!

This song speaks to me on so many levels. It's hard for me to explain in words. It gives me goosebumps. Think I just found a new favorite!
@ryaku52 жыл бұрын
To me, the song speaks of telling everyone that everything is fine and they should not worry about you, when in truth the worst person you're lying to is yourself. Seeing how the pain he is under is revealed and forcibly binding it up and pretending that it doesn't exist. It is only during the bridge that the character accepts that not everything about them is fine and they have to start somewhere new in order to be a complete person again. Replacing the parts about them that have broken apart and are beyond repair with a new sense of self that is stronger and more complete than they were before.

Oh my god this song is so good. It's one of those songs where you think the meaning is clear, but the more you watch it the more you wonder. I think the bridge at 3:13 is the best insight into the meaning of the song. Oh my god Nathan, I love it so much.

I honestly really love listening to how your music has evolved and it remains one of my favorite playlists to binge, but in all honesty it's a bit comical when you're wailing on a mini piano and it probably should have been a grand. It's just one of those things man. Congrats on the new album.

I can't help but listen to this song on constant loop, it's just so amazing!!! Makes me sooo excited for when the rest of the songs come out!! I'm not sure if I connect with the song or what, but every time I sit and listen (and I mean really listen, as in just immerse myself in the lyrics, let it flow over me like waves, let my mind just think about the words, etc.) the feels just hit me like a punch to the gut and I find myself having a hard time holding back the tears threatening to form in my eyes. Amazing work my dude. You are an inspiration to us all.
